This was left at my house after our last club meeting. Can anyone ID the plant for me? Not a lot of detail, but the club is focused on hardy and semi-hardy tropicals and semi-tropicals. Thanks.

It definitely looks like a yucca to me, probably yucca recurvifola. They should definitely survive by you since they grow like wildfire here (without a doubt the fastest growing yucca I have seen here since they can get to 5 feet tall from a 2 foot tall plant in a matter of 5 years).

Yes, Yucca recurvifolia has very soft leaves. The tips are sharp, but the rest of the leaves are very soft. Y. Recurvifolia makes a really nice trunk when older, but around here they usually collapse under the weight of snow once they get past 6 or 7 feet tall (but I have seen some tall ones remain intact!). Yucca guatemalensis also has soft leaves, but that is a more tropical yucca.
I do like te Yucca Gold Sword. They are another common one here. They stay nice and small and they have great color!

I would say some sort of Yucca, although I'm no expert. I just looked at the one I have (no variety known) and it has a big flower spike up, ready to bloom, and the dried up spike from last year is still there. Will get some pix of the blooms ASAP.

Do you have a pic of it from a different angle? I'm going to try and post a pic of some Yucca recurvifolia seedlings I have in my yard (I didnt plant them, an animal must have dropped a few seeds) because my seedlings look really similar to the plant in your picture (and mine is definitely a yucca since it survives my winters which a dracaena cant do).
