Nutmeg Bush, Ginger Bush (Tetradenia riparia)

Tetradenia riparia is widely used in traditional medicine in Africa. In standardized dosages it is good control for a number of ailments. It can be toxic at higher dosages, so further reading is advised before ingestion: Tetradenia Riparia Herba

Although common names for the plant include nutmeg and ginger, it is not related to either. Begin native to southern Africa, it chooses this time of year to bloom. :)

That's spectacular. What are it's requirements? Where can I get seed?

It's native habitat is in drier (but not arid) areas of the tropics. Works great in USDA hardiness zone 10a. Seed is commercially available in the U.S. ... you can probably find them online before I figure out which one of my catalogs it came from :)
