Manila is a poor choice for coastal-influenced regions of San Diego county. Go get an Oro from Paul Fisher, 619-322-4141. You might also be able to find a Keitt (aka Kitt) from City Farmers Nursery, Walter Andersen's, or Clausen's. Beware of plants from Exotica as many of them are mislabeled.

Thanks Richard, for the info. I assume you are growing mangos. Any tips for a first timer growing mangos would a greenhouse help. Thanks again.

As a member of the CRFG, I have learned a lot about growing mangos by reading the "Fruit Gardener" that comes with your membership, attending the world-class lectures on mangos at last year's CRFG Festival of Fruit in San Diego, and one-to-one discussions with Tom Del Hotal and Jim Neitzel -- both of the San Diego CRFG chapter. Based on this information I've decided not to try Mango at my location.
