cool, sounds like it can be useful if you need to germinate things quickly, especially seeds that take a while.

Sherrry, post comparison pictures of the Marble peppers in the soil and the one still in the AeroGarden that were born at the same time. If anything is convincing that surely would be!

I edited the pictures below so you know what they are!

Talking Re: My Aero~Garden...

Ok here are the Marble hot pepper plants in my south window, just now setting buds but barely. They were raised in the aero-garden but then taken out later...

They're nice but much taller and more spindly looking. The one in the back is not a marble plant though...

The one in my aero garden in much more dense and full...

Here's the one bud today, that's about to open...

Strawberry...

Genovese Basil is getting huge after all my harvesting...

Micro-Tom...

Woops I forgot these ones too!

Violetta Basil...

"Thumbelina" Zinnia...

Here's the "Little Blue" hot pepper plant, growing nicely again and developing lots of buds. As the new leaves age, they will become more 'blue'...

Wow, there is a difference. I guess if you have rare plants that you want to propogate, you might be able to use something like this. I guess I might think about it the next time I need to grow something fast.

Steve I need to add also - I have put "old" seeds (over two years old) in the AeroGarden and have had successful germination. The same seeds in seed starter soil have not done anything.

Sherry, everything looks sooooooo GREAT!!!!!

The Marble Pepper in the AG looks like it is several plants instead of just one! And a blossom to boot! And loaded with BUDS. You didn't prune it or anything either. The Little Blue looks great too!!!

I am trying to get some shots of my old seeds right now that are popping. It has taken them longer than fresh, but they are DOING something!

Hiya Re: My Aero~Garden...

Nope, no pruning of the Marble pepper plant at all.

Here's a little trick I learned about growing pepper plants under lights...

When you keep the lights nice and close and don't raise them, the pepper plant tends to grow wider and way more bushy, instead of tall and spindly, reaching & stretching for the lights.

I haven't raised my aero-garden lights since I bought the system and started it up! Some people would likely tell me to raise them higher, and I will soon, but now is not the time. I know when plants don't like the closeness of the lights, but this marble plant is loving it, and so is my tall Genovese Basil.

Thanks so much JaNan, for your post and compliments. I am shocked myself at how great things look in there! It's amazing. The strawberry plant is developing a root system but once it really gets going, it will grow quite quickly.

Too cool that I'll be harvesting hot peppers, basil, strawberries, and cherry tomatoes out of my system in a very short time!!! Not to mention, looking a colorful flowers!

Oh by the way JaNan, in the picture of the zinnia...at the base you can see a small little pepper seedling that's come up. It's a ZigZag!!!

Do you mean "Jigsaw"? I don't know of a ZigZag, is it something we have talked about?

Hey, is that a teeny little yellow blossom on your MicroTom? Sure looks like it! ~J

I meant to say "Jigsaw"!!! Too funny.

I'm gonna go check and see if it really is the beginnings of a tomato blossom...

I can't tell if it's a bud that's deveoping or not, but there's no yellow yet. I think it might have been the lighting. It won't be long though now and it will be producing! Can't wait.

This shot is so cute, I'll post it here too for those that follow along. I'm really just posting it to make Bob jealous!

JaNan, you just have no idea how much I love this plant! I think it's one of the nicest I've ever grown!

I love it that it came from you as well...so cool.

That picture looks like it is posing for you! A pepper plant with a personality!!! Well that should definitely make Bob jealous! It could be a picture post card for the perfect Hot Marble plant. I started three more seeds, and I think I have the start of grow tails.

Boy that sure looks like a little bud on that tomato. I have gone back and looked at it three more time and have even blown it up. it must be a little curl of new leaves.

I keep forgetting to take pictures of my tomato babies. 100% survived started in the AG transferred to Spagnum Peat Moss. They are sooooo cute. Maybe I can get a quick shot tonight when I post this.

This is the old seed Steve. They are about two years old but I have at least two spouting (mini passiflora).

There are tiny tree seeds (older than two years) on the surface of the sponge and I have at least three sprouting though I am not sure you can see them. The big seeds (in comparison) are pepper seeds.

These are Papaya sprouting:

Hiya Re: My Aero~Garden...

Thanks for saying my marble plant is perfect, JaNan. The credit goes to the aero-garden though, not to me.

It does look like it's posing! I just loved the shot because it all looks so purple. Such an appealing & attractive little plant JaNan. Thanks again for sharing it.

You're really having terrific success with germination, I see. Things look good.

So what are you actually going to keep in the system to grow? You have 7 pods, so what will stay in them this time? I can't wait to find out.

Do you like what I've chosen to grow in mine for my first cycle? I figured it was a good mix of some cool things to keep my interest for awhile. The thing is though, peppers are perennial indoors so they'll live on and continue to produce fruits! My little marble beauty could be in there for awhile.

I can't wait to see the first baby marble pepper! By the looks of things, it won't be long now. I can tell the blossoms will be really purple and pretty.

The "Little Blue" pepper is producing buds so they should have fruits roughly around the same time and they're the same size plants too. Don't worry, you're getting seeds for that as well JaNan.

So ok, tell me what you'll be growing in your pods...

JaNan, look how big the Genovese is tonight!

The leaves are just huge. Way larger than when I grow it in a pot.

One leaf on that whopper could be a meal! WoW! I can see the little Sundews now without even blowing up the picture. Isn't that a beautiful bloom? It looks like a purple star. I'm so glad you love it. I hope I can get one that looks half as good! That color combination in that picture with the lime green and purples, I like it a lot.

Here is a new sprout popping today. This is a pink oleander - another seed that came in the same trade as the mini passi, so the seed is over two years old. I am very pleased!

These are the new purple basil in G #2 this afternoon.

And the papaya

I am not sure which I will keep in the Ag's. I know I will keep all of them in there a lot longer than I did the others. Probably the Hot Marble for sure because of yours. Many of the plants are tall, so they will have to come out just for the size factor - but that will be a while yet. Maybe the petunias if they don't take it over.

Petunias can be pruned and shaped, so don't worry about them taking over, JaNan.

Your stuff looks great. The basil is coming along already.

I'm getting so excited about the marble plant and can't wait for that blossom to fall so I can see one of the fruits. How cool that it's produced so quickly and wonderfully. I'm sure yours will be every bit as gorgeous JaNan, so no worries there.

Yes, the Genovese basil leaves are enormous! The flavor is to die for and I'm getting so spoiled that I can't do without it now. I'm going to be harvesting the Violetta soon too, by the looks of things. I actually noticed this morning that it shot up really tall over night! The growth on my plants is amazing now and I'm keeping everything well fed.

Did you see the post on the aero-garden site where Pixie was asking me what the pH reading of my water was? Are you intending on buying a pH kit, JaNan? I think it would be cool to know the exact figures and then adjustments could be made. What do you think?
