Mist'em
What would you experts think about my small 8x4 greenhouse that i'll be starting my pineapple plants in if i just mist them with my cool mist humidifier and maybe add just a wee-bit of miracle grow too the water! Pineapples do like too take in the moisture from the leaves right?

Miracle-Gro will give you growth but not much kick in the fruit department. Look for a water-soluble formula with an N-P-K rating that is "Medium"-"Low"-"High", for example 15-5-22, or 20-5-30. |

I have given mine a mix of 6-6-6 and they seem to responde to it. I do try to give my pineapples real rich soil. Do you think the same Fert I use on my Banana's would work on Pineapples? I have a 15-5-30 for Bananas I have also tryed misting with Liquid Sea Weed, that had REALLY good resoults right away but maybe my mix was a litttle high because I got burn marks / holes in a few places. P.S. I love Liquid Seaweed and MegaGro Mist! |

I'm glad you've found liquid seaweed -- I have used it also. Be aware that some of the manufacturers do not normalize it for plants. Basically, they use the same equipment used to expeller-press olive oil. The problem here is that the micronutrient load will be uneven in terms of plant requirements, and sometimes variable from batch-to-batch. Use a reputable product that lists the quantities (percentages) of each mineral nutrient on the container. This provides some evidence that they are trying for consistency and hopefully paying attention to the percentages desired by plants. The issue is that when micronutrients get out of balance in the soil or plant system, undesirable side effects begin to happen. |
