My wife has been babying a Monstera Deliciosa that she bought 4 years ago and it had become a beautiful plant about 4 feet long. Then, a year and a half ago, I hired a crew to cut the weeds on our property and...you guessed it, they denuded the Monstera of its leaves just as it was fruiting. All we were left with was a single leaf on one end and 3 leaves on the other end.

Now we are finding that they have done us a favor. The Monstera not only survived but now we have two plants, still connected by the trunk and a 3 foot section that we will cut from the plant and propagate 3 more plants. One part of the denuded section already has a leaf started at one end.

This is what we have now


The red arrows indicate the section that was denuded by the cutting crew. It will be cut out and used to start three more plants.

The blue arrows show where the fruit is growing. The smaller bunch to the right and the larger bunch at the left.

It has finally started to flower and produce fruit on both ends.
This is 3 fruits on the smaller part of the plant on the right


and this is five fruits on the larger end on the left.


When fruiting is finished we will seperate the center section and divide it into three starts and plant them in other locations.
