I Saved A Parrot Plant!!
 
I was in the grocerie store called "dominion" and i seen the plant in the corner of the store for sale the poor things was half dead. by the looks of it noone had noticed it. so i asked the store lady how much..? she said "free" so i ran to my van and went home i hope everything goes well. any ideas on how to grow it..?
its scientific name is "heliconia psittacorum". :)

Watering it would be a good idea! They like sunlight also.

I use the plant as a yard filler. In zone 10 it grows like a weed. It has a number of clones that have colors from yellow to red. My red form blooms all year long, unless the temp goes below 40. The flowers will wither, but new flowers come out in a few weeks. They take a lot of water and like bananas they respond to fertilizers.

Thanks for the proper name because Parrot Plant could be more plant. If you google parrot plant you will get Impatiens niamniamensis, an invasive plant.
