Default How long are fresh seeds good for?

I have a bunch of citrus and longan seeds from fruit that I ate over the weekend, want to try growing from seedlings just for fun. I'm too busy to start planting the seeds until after Christmas. How should I store them? The longan seeds are in a bag. The citrus seeds are still inside their fruits, haven't cut open the fruits yet. I suppose I can store the citrus fruits in the fridge until I'm ready to cut them up and get the seeds. What about the longans'? OK to store in a ziplock bag in the fridge?

Thanks,

Joy Re: How long are fresh seeds good for?

They say citrus seeds should be sown still wet, directly fresh from the fruits...but I've experienced them popping (germinating) regardless.

If the fruits can be kept fresh in the fridge and not rotten, of course the seeds are best kept
intact.

Otherwise...

Remove them from the fruits and wrap them in a dry paper towel placed inside a baggy, and put it in the fridge until you're ready to sow after Christmas.

I've done it, so this advice comes from my own personal experience. I've had them still sprout after being in the fridge for over 6 months!

Good luck...
