Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

Hey thanks you guys! :waving:

I was shocked to see it this afternoon, actually. The stalk and the blooms were hiding behind my shelf and I didn't even know until today when I was dusting that the plant had sent up another stalk that's now blooming!

Talk about surprise...I was so happily stunned to see it there. :D

A few months back the plant had a huge flower stalk on it that was loaded with flowers, but I cut it off by accident! I am so thrilled that it sent up another one though, while I've been ignoring it. :ha:

I noticed it's more yellow and freckled in the center of the flowers than it has been in past years. Kinda cool.

I set up a small ornamental nursery last year. We now carry (some grown from seed) 10 types of Banana, windmill palm, japanese maples...etc... I am looking for new types of both Japanese maples , tropicals (cold hardy) and banana.

Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

I get my Japanese Red Maple seeds from a gardener in Turkey...collected from his Crimson Queen weeping maple tree.

The seeds are never true to the parent tree apparently, but I've still had some very red and appealing seedlings come up for me. The seeds were in my fridge for 6 months before they popped.

Good luck finding what you're looking for. ;)

Neat, Tom. ;)

It's more special to me because it was a childhood favorite. I didn't know they had weeping ones though! :goteam:

It's like a little dwarf tree. There were only 2 left after I bought this one. I admit it was a bit costly, but I simply couldn't resist. I had no idea they were winter hardy to our zone! How cool is that?!

Apparently, it's grafted. Hope it does well for me because I sure adore it. :D

I grew this maple tree from seed and it got kind of neglected and in fact...I thought it was dead!

Today however, I noticed it was sprouting two new shoots from the "dead" branch...

Gorgeous shots as usual Sherry!

That burgundy leaf sure is pretty (close enough to purple for me :ha:) What color is the bloom on it?

Yeah, that is real red for winter time! Good Job!

I love plant pictures when they have water droplets on them. They look so clean and refreshed! ~J

Those are cool pctures Sherry... I bought a variegated rubber plant about aweek ago at Lowes (big box) for less than 3 dollars; of course it was in a 4'' pot.
