First attempt at uploading a pic. Got this baby from a local friend, and loved the bright color.

Unfortunately, no. I acquired it from a friend that grows 'Hono hono' orchids, and since these are not his specialty, he never kept track of where he got it, or what its varietal name was - if it had one.

The main difference I saw with this one (which might give a clue as to its name) was that it did not have the dark disc in the center that many hibiscus show.

Any of you folks ever hear of a 'Pagoda' hibiscus? It is a typical red with normal size petals, but instead of a typical staminal column, you have the stem of another smaller version of the flower. Then, where you should have the staminal column for that bloom, you again have the stem of another smaller flower. That bloom has a short, normal appearing staminal column. The effect is three successively smaller blooms stacked on top of each other. I've heard that there are some around, but have yet to see any.

I agree, beautiful Emily and Howard!! I don't have any in bloom right now, but I did just buy a new one for 10 cents the other day though. No tags and I don't know what color, so it will be a surprise. I'll try and take a shot of it tomorrow.

Beautiful Emily! Those night shots are very dramatic looking! Very nice! I forgot I said I would post my 10 cent hibiscus. Well here she is:

I know it looks like a Charlie Brown hibiscus, but it has teeny little leaves coming out on all the bare branches. So I took a chance!

It should do fine with your TLC, JaNan. It's exciting to wait and see what the bloom will look like.
