Over one and a half billion people speak English world-wide and there are only about 34 million people in Canada (less than the state of CA). Us Canadians have to go through customs and show our passports like everyone else. There are a good percentage of Canadians who don't speak English.. we have two official languages and tonnes of immigrants you know!

Hiya Re: Herbs

Don't worry, they'll be there. It's just that Easter really slowed our mail service.

Yup, get those herbs into some sunlight, for sure. If you pinch the tips, they'll grow more dense and bushy for you.

Joy Re: Herbs

Look what I got my hands on today, JaNan!

Chocolate Mint!!!

It's even got the chocolate colored stems...

I was shocked to come across it.

Picked up a couple broken "orange mint" branches that were gonna fall off the plant anyway...and the lady said it was ok.

I was actually just going to buy the whole plant, but my mom talked me out of it. It didn't really smell like orange to me, and in fact I didn't find it all that appealing really.

I do have cuttings that will root though, if you want some JaNan? It smells like spicey citrus, or something, but it's called "orange mint". My mom said it smelled like bug spray!

YAY! Now we can sip chocolate mint tea together! I knew what it was before I even read the description.

Sure I want some, Sherry! Probably that citronella stuff for mosquitoes!

The next mint I am trying to find is the Pineapple Mint, the variegated. I haven't found it locally so I will probably have to order some.

Bonnie is the same supplier we have here at Lowe's, but as much as I go I haven't ever seen Chocolate mint there. That's a SCORE as far as I'm concerned!

I got it at "Canadian Tire"...of all places! They're the only place in London that has it though. I really was shocked to come across 10 gorgeous chocolate mint plants...and then the orange one too.

When I first saw the orange type I was delighted, but as I bent down to smell it, I was so disappointed. I was hoping it would have that candy-like sweet orange scent, but it didn't at all. In fact if the tag didn't say orange on it, I wouldn't have even known what scent it was. It was also from Bonnies too. They only wanted $2.99 each for them, but I only actually bought the chocolate variety. The orange cuttings will root so easily though.

Yup, I'm so looking forward to drinking tea from the dried leaves. So cool I found some. I even bought a cute chocolate colored pot to re-pot it into! I'll show you later how adorable it is.

Very cool that you got them finally, Fernie!!!

Now you can sow them all and grow tons of herbs! Those seeds are all brand new and fresh, so you'll find them to be super viable with an excellent germination rate. Enjoy, and please feel free to post shots of your growings in this thread.

Ok so about my chocolate mint...

Last night I cut off a small shoot, so I could dry it for tea. Here's the shoot, and notice the chocolate colored hue on the back of the leaves...

This morning though, as the shoot is drying more, the chocolate color is turning purple, much like how my lemon balm looks when it's dried...

Here's the small chocolate mint shoot this morning. As it dries, the back of the leaves gets more and more purple...
