Hawthorne's

Does anyone know if these plants can survive a zone 7 winter. I like them alot, and some websites rate them as zone 7 plants, and others as zone 8 plants. One of the cultivators Ive found was Hawthorne " snow white". Also if anyone knows of cultivators that are more cold tolerant than others, I would greatly appreciate it.

My Indian Hawthornes are planted on the north side (coldest area) of my house in zone 8a. They have no damage down to 12 degrees. I don't remember what variety I have though.

They are suppose to be hardy to 0F...?

Thats good to know. Mine will be in brick planters, next to the house, and facing south west (so its a pretty decent microcliamte). Usually lowest temps for the winter will be around 5-10 degrees on the coldest night. In 2002 our lowest temperature never dropped below 20F, but in the 1980s we did get some sub zero temps (but they werent too far below 0F and the duration wasnt that long).

Assuming we are talking about the same plants - we had them in England in all weathers without any problems - they are a native plant there so they have endured everything the climate has thrown at them for hundreds of years.
