How big are those loquats now? Mine are 1 1/2 inches long. Hopefully, none fall off before they're ripe -- like the damned citrus!
There's a Passion vine in there too.Mine are about the same size.

Talking Re: First loquat to sprout

Cool thread, Cam!!!

Zac sent me my first loquat seeds ever, a couple years ago now. He also sent me some of his homemade Loquat jam!!!

Here were my first Loquat plants to sprout from his seeds...

Never saw any fruit but they were way too young and I gave them as gifts to a few people. I still have
seeds.

How are your plants doing now, Cam?

My Big Jim loquats are turning a golden color! They are about 2 1/4 inches long & very fat. I propped the branch w/ a mop for support ... they are so heavy. I'll try to post a pic soon.

This branch is so heavy, I have a mop proping it up. Going to pick one soon & weigh it. I have 12 here...one rotted & fell off few weeks ago.

They are more golden than what's shown. I just ate one...very very juicy & taste was excellent! It weighed 2 ounces. Going to let the others ripen more.
3 seeds in it -almost 3/4 inches long X 1/2 inch wide. This is a keeper for sure.
Dean, it is Big Jim that i GRAFTED on 2 yrs ago. My tree was planted from seed of fruit I picked in Fl almost exactly 5 yrs ago. This variety tastes MUCH better than whatever that variety was - & I don't know what that was. I should start getting fruit off it in couple yrs.
I am very surprised at how good it tastes & did I say JUICY? I liked it much more than the dragon fruit.
Tony, I'm confused about your pic...are all 4 of those loquats? The smaller ones look like them...how big do they measure? Stilll have my fingers crossed on the Champaigne sticks you sent. Some are turning black at the tips

Patty my mouth is watering now! They look so yummy. Are you saving the seeds? If not please do, I would love trying to start one from seed. I bought an unidentified one from a nursery last year, but who knows what it will taste like!

Yours too Tony! Is that an avocado also?

Funny I never thought about there being other varieties of Loquats. Around here Loquat trees are everywhere, almost like weeds! ok, not quiet like weeds, but seems every few houses you'll find one. Last summer the kids started picking up randoms seeds while we went on our evening walks and we picked up several Loquat seeds. My 4yr old planted three of them and all three sprouted and are about 4-6inches high. A few years ago I had some mystery plants growing in my garden, and they both turned out to be Loquats. I gave them both away then regretted not keeping one.

I think most of them fell off. It's not a grafted variety and the weather was bad for them I guess.
