Figaholics
As many folks know, I am less active with bananas these days but still grow several mats of bananas. Just not much change on that front so I don't post much here, especially with a very busy schedule. I help here is mostly to kick out spammers when I get the chance.
I have a farm to run and it keeps me busy. Mostly because of meeting pitangadiego here several years ago I got more interested in figs. At first, it was just a few (or a dozen) but then it got pretty crazy and now figs are a significant part of my farm operation. I primarily sell nursery stock (cuttings and trees) but also have a friend picking and selling fruit from my orchard. This same friend suggested that I try to do videos of all of my varieties this year and I started this project earlier this month. I have about 350 varieties, so it has been quite a project. I have uploaded 280 videos so far this month to my YouTube channel and I welcome you to check it out if you are so inclined. My cutting sale should start again in January at my web site. I got caught up on videos last night and this morning took care of six spammers (some of which were not reported yet but discovered because of coming from the same IP address as reported spammers). There are couple of other moderators that help a little with this but I'm the main sheriff in town. It's up to MediaHound to appoint someone else who might have more time available. |

Re: Figaholics
I could help if needed. Can the spammers be blocked by IP numbers? if so this could stop spammer teams & bots. Or new member sign-up be restricted from posting links until X-number of post are made?

He has blocked some IP addresses before at my request but that is usually of limited help since these spammers often come from multiple IP addresses and switch them often through VPNs, etc. |

Are PM's from here forwarded to his email or another accounts? Oh ... Thanks for continuing to keep a check on the forum. I do know how it is to get burned out being an Admin on another forum. |

I don't really know what his email settings are but imagine he will eventually check it.

Re: Figaholics
Thanks for all you have done and continue to do. I was lucky enough to meet you and I was blown away by your figs. I couldn't fully appreciate it all because I had first tried a fig only a year ago and have nothing to compare. So that is next on my list of things to grow-one fig tree. Problem for me is that there are so many varieties of figs, there's not a clear easy choice to make for me in 9b.
I could also help with the site spam. I'm in IT and have experience in defending websites against spam. Let me know if/how I can help. mcfly
