Easy Ways to Collect, Save, & Store your Seeds...
I found a great way to collect strawberry seeds from your favorite tasting berries. These were mine...
![]() I was having a heck of a messy time trying to get them out of the red gushy juicy stuff! Then it occurred to me... TWEEZERS!!! I began to pull the seeds from a dry berry with ease! I was shocked as they came off the berries with no messy gushy red stuff, and I plunked them into a cup... ![]() Dry and ready to be planted...or stored in the fridge/cool area! :08: Now if only tomato seeds were this easy! :ha: There are different ways of saving tomato seeds and I find them to be the messiest of all. I like to lay mine on a papertowel straight from the tomato, and let them dry right on the sheet for a few days... Then I just tear off pieces of the paper towel, with the seed stuck to it, and bury them under the soil. They sprout with ease and the paper towel disintegrates over time. :D Please feel free to post your ways of collecting, saving, & storing your seeds too... : ) |

Here's some Micro tomato seeds I saved the old fashioned way today...
![]() I pinched the seeds in a paper towel to remove the goo and then put them into the cup. I save tomato seeds in a much cleaner way when I'm sharing them with others. : ) |

I like collecting pepper seeds - EZPZ
I also collect cuke seeds, marigolds& others I haven't tried tomatoes....do hybrids cause an issue ? IE the seeds won't grow from store bought hybrid tomatoes ? I've also heard germinating the seeds is a problem You have to soak them for a while ? |
Re: Easy Ways to Collect, Save, & Store your Seeds...
Tomato seeds are super easy to sprout and they don't require any soaking at all. ;)
Hybrid seeds will still germinate super easily but they may not produce plants identical to the parent plant. I believe heirloom tomato seeds will still produce true, however. Just be sure to dry the seeds for 3-4 days before sowing or storing them. Good luck! :goteam: : ) |

Right now I'm working on taking off the skins on these "Blackberry Lily' seeds...
![]() I might take a few of these "Amythest Beautyberry" Callicarpa purple skins off also... ![]() When I have them de-skinned, I'm going to put them into paper coin envelopes and then into a dry plastic bin in my fridge. :D : ) |
