![]() Univ of Hawaii has Waimanalo X-77 which is described as low-bearing. Some think this means it is a dwarf papaya. It is not, it is merely one that begins fruiting at a lower height than most. Last X-77 I had grew to 12 ft, not exactly a 'dwarf', but it began fruiting when just under 3 ft.

![]() Our "regular" papaya 2 yr old is now almost12 feet. the Waimanalo is like 6 feet - maybe not a dwarf, but half the size of anything else we have (we have maybe 8 "dwarf" so not an issue with poor growth or such). Plus it is low bearing - and as we cut them down when they reach like 12 feet (to resprout), even if the Waimanalo finally gets that big, we still have really won as have had far more bearing on a smaller tree - and will probably chop back when reaches 7 or 8 feet. Hopefully will continue to be a low bearer :-)
