Default Colorfull little pokeweed

Found this guys hiding on the other side of a fence line and took a few pics.
If the leaf structure was just a little bigger, and the birds wouldn't spread the seeds around the yard, I might allow this guy to grow in the yard with the castor, lol





Since the cold has done a number on this guy already a googled it and found this pic of a better looking one.

Don't plant it in your yard unless you like to weed! The only way to get rid of them is to dig them out of the ground. They get much bigger around here.

It does look like the color of the red castor, but the castor has big seeds so it won't get out of hand for anyone growing it.

I recall my friends grandpa telling us that you could eat it if it was cooked correctly . Seems its really poisonous .
I never thought about it till I read this thread and saw some 4-5 footers today . I decided it was time to look it up ! Neat .
