Default Colocasia Thailand giant makes runners?

My Thailand Giant is starting to get a decent size, and while inspecting it today, I noticed it has a runner. It looks like the type an Illustris for example, would have. Is this the normal way they reproduce? For some reason I was thinking it was a clumper. This would greatly simplify propagation.

Never seen a runner on mine or any of the ones I've grown. Are you 100%sure it's a Thai giant?

I got it from Wellspring, it certainly is getting large, the leaves are pretty impressive for planting out in May. It looks like a Thai Giant. I will try to take a pic of the plant tomorrow, and the runner it has.

I went ahead and took some pics tonight, sorry for the quality. I broke my camera Lcd the other day and had to use my phone, and it takes horrible night pics. I will take better ones of the runner tomorrow. The plant was just a little tc plant that had grown slightly larger when i planted it. The top leaf just unrolled and has not inflated to full size yet, so it should be much larger than the older leaf to the left. The runner has little sheaths on it, so it's not a root. definately a runner, I think. I am going to bury the end to see it it will send a new plant up like my Pink China do when I do the same. There are no other elephant ears within 50 feet. Oh, I made the mistake of planting under a hickory tree lol, probably look like swiss cheese by fall.

Went back out and looked today, and there is another second runner on the opposite side, so at least in some cases I guess, Thai giant makes runners.

My thai giant doesn't make runners at all. it has 3-4 pups on it right at the base. I'm still not sure that maybe they didn't send you a jacks giant. they look really similar and make runners.

Its humongous now lol, I had to dig it up and put it in a huge pot because I planted it under a hickory tree without thinking, and it was starting to get really beat up. Its for sure a Thai Giant by the looks of it, and its started blooming, and has unusual flowers for a colocasia, they are in rows like a fan. Oh and they will transplant very well even in the heat I discovered.

I ordered some Xanthosoma Sagittifolium from a one of the members here, and in the right conditions, I think they might get as big as thai giant based on pics I have seen on google, not sure why they are not more popular, have a pretty flower too, plus looks like they might store as a dry bulb.
