Chinese fan palm not growing.
 

Moved a six feet Chinese Fan Palm.
I thought I got most of the roots but of course it took a beating.
It is now over a year ago and although the plant is still alive it is not growing.
The small one I moved earlier got black leaves and died within a few weeks so since this one still have the few leaves that are green I thought it was ok.

However it is hardly pushing out any new growth and the new leaf that came out last year was extremely short.

Is it still in shock and if so when can I expect it to start real growth again?
THe place it is in has always had good growth from other palms. The small Chinese palm I moved to make place for this one was growing nicely.

Any advice?
I have watered good and given it lots of fertilizer but still no sign of real growth after about a year.

When they have size they don't transplant well with disturbed roots unless you cut most of the fronds off AFTER you root prune (but more importantly right before you dig it up, for most palms in general) - and then dig it up 3-6 weeks after and even longer to make sure.

Also if you do the transplant when it's cold/cool out it won't be happy.

I've transplanted some rather large ones (multi-clumped) and most of them died. It does depend on how many roots you can get/having a decent sized root ball.

They're slow growing plants anyway, which is odd seeing that they are nothing much more than a chinese weed.

Transplanted palms should not be fertilized with any granular fert, only foliar, for at the very very least 3 months or until new fronds have emerged, more so if you've removed most of the roots for the transplanting (like a Sabal or Queen palm).
