China doll plant ?

Has anyone ever grew the china doll plant. Someone gave me one that was almost dead about 10 years ago. I planted it outside I did not think it would live well its about 15 feet tall now and blooms these big white blooms. I need to get out there real early to take a picture tho because they close up during the day. I really like this tree. Here is a link

Hey Greg, as a matter of fact, I do have a China Doll plant sitting on my deck. I bought it as a houseplant, but it didn't much like the low humidity as far as I can tell, so it's spent the last two winters in my minimally heated workshop, coming out to the deck for the summer. It was similarly near dead (had dropped most of it's leaves), but is looking very happy now, and is about 7 ft tall. I had no idea it was a flowering plant, so your post is quite exciting. It is starting to look quite "tree-like" so maybe nearing maturity and bloom time. I'll now grumble less when I'm trying to squeeze it into the workshop for the winter!

You know im not sure if they smell good the flowers are so high. But they look good. I really like the tree.

I donot know what zone your in but they do great in the ground.I thought it was a house plant too. Mine goes dormant in the winter. Than in the spring it comes right back.

I'm in a variable zone 8a to 9, so I'll really have to check around and find out if it will survive outside here year round. Sure would beat having to move it back and forth every winter! Intriguing!

We have one growing here in the office, the boss calls it a celery plant

We got it when in was in a 2 inch pot, now in a 6 and growing like crazy, very nice plant. I didn't know it bloomed, so we shall be looking for that to happen its about 3 yers old now. Thanks for this thread Greg!
