Looks like some kind of squash or pumpkin. Hard to tell when they're small.

It's not Castor Bean. It's not Watermelon.
I agree with Cathy, with a dad who grows vegetables, and sometimes I do too, it is either a squash (or the like... zucchini etc), a gourd, or a pumpkin. It could also be a Loofa and the like, but I would assume it would be something rather common. Fernie, you will find that as that plant gets larger, the leaves get more splits in them, almost like a spiny passiflora. I have Loofa seeds and Castor Bean seeds for trade/sale/SASE if anyone is interesting. A few hundred of each.

If you're talking the one coming right up through the cardboard mulch, I'd have to agree with everyone else and say it's squash/melon type thing.

Yeah, its that one, I know the rest are Pineapples, Dutchmans pipe vine, and a Miracle Fruit seedling.
I just cant wait to find out what it is, All I did was turn over the dirt and dig down about 3 - 4" to set the cinder blocks in. |

My guess is a pumpkin. Could be squash but I doubt that would just appear there.
However, its not watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew which could be thrown around.

Possibly a marrow courgette plant. Is the forming fruit longish or roundish?
If it's longish it's a courgette. |
