Can anyone ID this plant?

I just made this bed, and this little guy popped up so I thought I would let him grow and see what he turns into. He is much bigger now, but I have no clue what kind of plant this is. Can anyone help??

Looks like castor bean or gunnera.

No way it is a castor bean, Here is a picture of my Purple / Hot Pink castor bean I started a few months ago. Castor grows wild here in FL, but they look a lot like this purple one just more green.

I am hoping it is some kind of food.

Looks like some kind of squash or pumpkin. Hard to tell when they're small.

It's not Castor Bean. It's not Watermelon.

I agree with Cathy, with a dad who grows vegetables, and sometimes I do too, it is either a squash (or the like... zucchini etc), a gourd, or a pumpkin. It could also be a Loofa and the like, but I would assume it would be something rather common.

Fernie, you will find that as that plant gets larger, the leaves get more splits in them, almost like a spiny passiflora.

I have Loofa seeds and Castor Bean seeds for trade/sale/SASE if anyone is interesting. A few hundred of each.

If you're talking the one coming right up through the cardboard mulch, I'd have to agree with everyone else and say it's squash/melon type thing.

Yeah, its that one, I know the rest are Pineapples, Dutchmans pipe vine, and a Miracle Fruit seedling.

I just cant wait to find out what it is, All I did was turn over the dirt and dig down about 3 - 4" to set the cinder blocks in.

My guess is a pumpkin. Could be squash but I doubt that would just appear there.

However, its not watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew which could be thrown around.

I think it is a squash of some kind. Look at the flower's it started to make. There is a little fruit under the flower. Still not 100% sure what kind of squash or if it is really a squash yet.

Possibly a marrow courgette plant. Is the forming fruit longish or roundish?

If it's longish it's a courgette.
