Default Campbell's Early Grape
This is a seeded concord table grape with an excellent flavor. Here's the description from Dave Wilson Nursery:
Large, purplish-black, American grape. Ripens two weeks earlier than Concord, keeps well. Adapted to cool summer climates. Productive, winter hardy vine. Hybridized in Ohio, tested in New York, introduced in the 1890s. 100 chill hours. Self-fruitful.
I've been trying to get this plant for awhile, and I finally succeeded with an order from Meyer Nursery & Orchards in Medford, Oregon.

What have you got against the "distinctive foxy flavor" of their seeded Concord? That's the flavor I grew up with, up north, as a kid. That's what Concord is all about!

Their Concord is seeded, right?

The have both seeded and seedless Concords. The Campbell's Early is a seeded Concord that works great in most parts of San Diego county.

They say the seeded Concord works in zone 9. Think it will make it in S Fla zone 9b? Everyone I talked to here says disease will eat it up.

If Pierce's disease is running rampant then death is a real possibility. Otherwise, zinc supplements and twice annual treatments with copper should be able to control mildew etc. Growing grapes organically in regions were there is not a sustained hard freeze is problematic.

Since I have one 20 ft wide space left on my fence after stomping on the grape that was there I'm gonna get a seeded Concord and see what happens. If I only get a few years harvest it will be worth it -- for me.
