![]() The Fine Art of Embroidery One of the finest manifestations of Vietnamese culture is the elevation of the craft of embroidery to the level of superb artistry. The studio, where the following images were created is in Nha Trang; - not quite to the level of a similar studio in Hue, but very impressive nonetheless. Unfortunately I took these photographs as a tourist and accordingly did not have the privilege to arrange the works in such manner that reflections from light fixtures and background features would not interfere with the embroideries, which were often crafted on gossamer-like bases. This representation of a Vietnamese country scene is enclosed by an approximately 30” x 23” frame. These birds are a blow-up from the above picture to show the fine work in detail A portrait of an elderly lady on a work frame And again the same lady in detail.

![]() Stay tuned, Jason, I have photographs of even more exquisite embroideries coming up, but
first I will return to a subject more attuned to this forum: Tree Sculpting in Vietnam. Best, Olaf
