Default Anyone growing Bauhinia yunnanensis?

I started some from seed this spring and they have grown quite well. Only problem is that I have yet to get it to bloom! Does anyone have any info and /or advice on growing this beautiful blooming vine? Thanks in advance!!!

I have one grown from seed too. It has grown very slowly....no chance of flowers yet. I like the leaves though.

I'm hoping that once it gets going I can plant it outside. I tried 2 other bauhinia that didn't overwinter here.

Joe, I planted mine out in late spring of this year and has grown pretty well as it is probably about 6-8' overall, if I had a better trellising system for it!!! I, too, like the foliage of this plant, but would really like to see the blooms on this puppy!!! Thanks for your input!!!

Are you going to try to leave it out for the winter? If so, please keep updating this thread. I'm really interested in how it will do. Maybe I'll plant it out next year.

Will do, Joe!!! Information from PDN in Raliegh, is that it has come back for them since 2004. They are probably a tab bit warmer than I am, but not like Charleston, SC. If their claims are true, you should not have any problem where you live. I will probably add a little extra mulch on their root area and see what happens. Will keep you posted...

Years after planting it outside, the Bauhinia yunnanensis finally bloomed. It loses most of it's leaves in the winters, but the stem has remained alive since 2010.
