I just planted six plants of different varieties a few days ago. I've had no luck with grapes but there were some wild muscadine a on my property so hopefully these improved cultivars will do well too. They should be easier to prune and mow around than table grapes. Heck, they couldn't do much worse. Let's see...Carlos, Tara, Nesbitt, Delicious, Noble...and another one I forgot.

I've got Southern Home. It's a vigorous plant and a few other members here are growing it as well. When I operated a nursery I stocked it on a regular basis.

That Southern Home looks like a good one. I finished the trellis and got the Muscadines in the ground today. I have Noble, Carlos, Welder, Black Beauty. Charles AKA Darkman was very helpful in giving me advice on getting going with it.

Southern Home seems like a good one to try. I think I had a chance to buy one back when I was trying grapes but when I read up on it I realized that it was more of a muscadine. Well, now I've dug up the grapes and planted muscadines but I haven't seen Southern Home for sale locally lately.

I have several types; Southern Home, Alachua, Fry, Welder, Noble, Cowart and Sunbelt. My Jumbo died, but all others are going great. All were planted this summer 2014 and a couple tried to set fruit, but I removed it to encourage plant growth. The cordons stretch from 5' to 12' in both directions. Leaves are turning yellow and dropping now. Ready to prune in Feb and get the first fruit this next summer'fall.

I'm growing triumph, not a lot of grapes do not do well here because of the warm winters but this one goes dormant with no chill. Last year it went dormant when it was still 75deg F out.
