![]() I really believed you would have got them by now Howard...damn customs!
![]() Guess we'll find out how well Wilt-Pruf really works but I'm a bit concerned and thought you would have got them by Tuesday. Fingers crossed tomorrow. The poor things have been in a box for 9 days!!! Yeah yeah Bob, you're one to talk aren't ya? Mister "I'm mailing them this week"....uh huh sure! I'll believe it when I see it! I'm kinda glad that I'm sending my stuff late in the season because I'd prefer people to nurse the cutting shrubs inside for first Winter and think you guys might have better success this way. I've sent Howard enough to experiment with and will with you other guys too. This plant is so easy to please that I have sneaking suspicions the roots will survive regardless, so feel free to experiment if you want. Here's some sunny shots I took today of both my shrubs... ![]() ![]() : ) |

![]() Nothing yet today either so far. :-( (And I received both my 'Lily Trees' and my poppies orders from Brecks the other day.)
I wonder if I should contact my local post office and see if they have any info.

![]() If you don't get it by the end of the week Howard, then look into it, yes.
I think next time I'll mail Express Post for sure because it's just too long. Hope you get it by Saturday... : ) |

![]() Sorry I didn't post for a day or so. We had a rain storm Friday that caused a tree branch to fall on the power wires across the street. Took out power for about 4 hours to the whole neighborhood. Then I found out my phone and internet (both Verizon FIOS) were down too. Discovered it wasn't my box, so they had to send someone today. Had to redo the setup on the pole across the street; everything had been fried. No surprise, as the accident happened around Friday midnight and was a large boom, followed by the brightest light I've ever seen. I opened my front door expecting to see a house or two engulfed in flames (like the natural gas explosion recently in California). The power lines were all flaming up on the pole where the wire had been pulled away from it. Guess we're all pretty lucky.
Bottom line- nothing yet- still. grrr.

![]() Wow Howard! Gosh, I'm glad you're ok! Pretty wild that happened.
![]() I could really boot my own arse for sending your box the way I did! ![]() Remember I told you I didn't have your last name? It just says "Mr Howard" on it, and I think this is definitely the reason for the overly long delay. I shouldn't have done that and I knew better but figured since the box was well wrapped and everything else was clear, I'd get away with it...but it's made them suspicious and I know it. Howard, if things are dead or in bad shape when you get them, don't worry. I can replace things for you immediately and the seeds will still be ok. Let's just see how this plays out... Bob & Zac, I think I will mail your stuff priority post so this doesn't happen to yours and I have your last names so it should be ok. Penny, you are in Canada and in the same province so yours will be just fine. I'm sending stuff out this afternoon... : ) |

![]() No, it really is my fault Howard, because I knew better than to not ask you for your last name, but I went ahead and mailed it anyway!
![]() They likely think it's a bomb and are scrutinizing it carefully! ![]() Luckily I have beautyberry cuttings coming out my yin yang, so I can replace them easily..but yours were bigger and more developed than the small ones I have left now. I'm glad I at least sprayed them with the Wilt-Pruf, because it may prove to save the day. We'll see... : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 10-03-2010 at 04:29 PM. Reason: damn spelling!!! |

![]() Thanks Tony! I'm sorry I couldn't set you up with any cuttings this season as you requested in pm, but maybe next season...
Here's shots I took today: Getting closer to being fully ripe but not quite yet... (That's my "Blue Girl" Holly shrub to the right of the pic) ![]() ![]() Zac, Bob, & Penny... I also mailed your stuff Express Post so there'd be no delays in you getting them....especially Zac & Bob, being in the US. Pen, it was a buck extra to send yours Express because you're in the same province so I figured what the hell... Howard, if things don't turn up soon I'm sure the shrubs will be dead after all this time so I'll look into replacing things for you. Any word from the Post Office?... robbing, thieving, fraudulent, fleecing, over-priced sheisters that they are!!! ![]() I think their Express Post is a bunch of baloney, but we'll see. Unfortunately, a signature will be required. ![]() Let me know when you guys get your stuff... Enjoy! : ) |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm so glad you got them alright! Happy you like the Plumeria too...it's from Bob. Remember that gorgeous huge cutting he sent me last year and I told you I'd share it with you someday? Well that's it! ![]() It put on a bit of growth this season and that small piece I gave you is one of the new branches that grew! ![]() The Plumeria cutting should be calloused over now, which is recommended before rooting, so just stick the end into some moist but well draining soil and put it in a window and wait... It will root in no time flat for you and you will have a lovely little Plumeria tree. ![]() I shared a little piece with Zac also. ![]() Ok, so about the Beautyberry cuttings... Take the two crappiest cuttings Penny, and place them directly in the ground but try to bury them a little deeper so the roots have a chance to survive. It's the roots that send up the new shoots so don't worry if the tops die down. Keep the nicest cuttings inside in a bright window and fertilize the roots all winter since they should still be active indoors. My cuttings are used to being fed regularily with a mild solution so if you all continue to do this you will see excellent results. Be sure to keep pruning the new shoots and do not be afraid or reluctant to do so....the shrubs love it and they will get really bushy and full for you as a result. Feel free to experiment because I can of course replace any of them later, so no worries. Enjoy your shrubs, everyone. ![]() Zac, yours could be there today! It's Express Post and they guarantee it in three business days but the first day begins the day after you drop the box to the post office, so we'll see... Penny's made it in good time, so I'm happy. ![]() Bob's has arrived too because I checked the tracking number on the internet and it says it's there. I mailed him a two foot tall box though because it has his Hollyberry shrub in it as well, along with the beautyberry shrubs. What a suck he is, eh? ![]() Anyway, have fun y'all, and enjoy your shrubs. Keep us posted, and for gawd's sake... SHOW PICTURES!!! ![]() |

![]() Bob and Zac both got their cutting shrubs today too!
Howard, please don't feel left out because look at the replacement cuttings I'll be giving you... ![]() They're slightly slower rooting, due to taking the cuttings late in the season but they are rooting nonetheless! : ) |
