Is there anyone in Zone 8a that has had luck growing Alocasia Lauterbaachian?

I guess the more common spelling is Alocasia lauterbachiana, a species of Elephant ear plant from Papua New Guinea.

AGRI-STARTS, INC.: Alocasia lauterbaachiana

I say go for it ! I have had many 'zone 9' ee's to survive here in 8a with no protection .
I found these on sale two years ago at stokes...they were $5 then .
Alocasia lauterbaachiana

I had earmarked all my funds for other plants but almost loaded up on these . They're really neat and I still wish that I had picked a few up .
You could also store them .

I'm in 8B/9A depending on who you talk to, I grow it outside in a few locations.
Here is a pic of one of mine with Colocasia "Maui Magic"
