Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
Very cool! I'm guessing I could do this with any almost ripe bananas?
Looks like your dogs likes your cooking! |
Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
Yea you sure could, some would probably taste better and/or cook better than others.
But if you're bored and have plenty of bounty, give it a whirl. About my Shepherd, here you can see that she trusts me :) She only had that bit but she would have relished more :) |
Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
My two Aussies have been eating Dwarf Cavendish fruits that got a little odd texture from the frost damge for about a month now. I use them for training treats and they love them!

Thanks for these fruits, they were delicious. We had family over when I cooked them, everyone liked the taste.. and they're a great conversation piece. If it weren't for you, this thread wouldn't be here :) :bananas_b http://togofcoralgables.com/AeAebananas.aspx |

Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
Jarred your chips looked tasty!!
With my Ae Ae I made our traditional latin dish, Fried Green Plantains " Tostones". See Photos Peel and cut them to about 1 1/2 inch Fry in very hot veg. oil Smash with either a plastic or wooded plantian smasher (optional you can use any flate surface to smash). Smash to about 1/2 inch Fry again for a few seconds, unitl golden yellow and garnish with salt. Very good Banana for Tostones!! Thanks again Jordon. |
Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
How long do you fry them the first time? I never got them to look that good. I use a glass to smash them.

Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
Pablo, those look great! Thanks for sharing your recipe
:chefnaner: There's a good dressing for the mariquetas or tostones made from minced garlic, onion, salt, vinegar, and olive oil. Mix up those ingredients and dip them in or pour it over and let them soak in a thin layer of it in a bowl. |
Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
It's a very good sauce for both chips and tostones. My mother showed me how to make it.
Have you tried it? |
Re: Recipe: Ae Ae Banana Chips / Ae Ae Plantain Mariquetas Bananenchips
