So frustrating

OK, so I did the upload thing 8 times.
Everytime it says
"Image uploaded successfully"

Then it bumps to the next page where it says
"this catagory doesn't contain any images"

So where are they?
Where did they go?
Why is this so hard?
What am I doing wrong?

I even made the image smaller.
Looked at the help (?) that wasn't a bit of help
except it said to watch the size limitations...doesn't say what those are but to keep them in the allowable range...That is exactly what?

There must be an easier way...sheesh

Re: Impossible to post pics???

Just jumped threw hoops and smacked my head on the way down for nothing.
No it didn't work, there is no "link" for a pic in Picasa. Can't copy and paste either. I'm not opening up a photobucket account...not worth the effort at this point and don't need all those host accounts for 1 picture...
come on now????
I don't understand why I can't down load this from the file on my computer. Says I can??? You really can't! It wants you to load them to the gallery but the gallery for me doesn't exist, and I am sure it doesn't for allot of other frustrated people as well, it says it took the pics but then it says NO it didn't load the pics...so which is it? Where is it 10-12 times now?
It should be so easy, so simple, so stream lined and it's just not in any way, shape or form.
It's frustrating, complicated and just so NOT user friendly...any other ideas?

flaflowerfloozie 10-17-2012 12:59 PM

So frustrating

Pics still don't work no matter what I do, try, what file I use, how I manipulate it or where I get it from...it just doesn't work.
Works for davesgarden, etsy, gardenweb, ebay, allthingsplants...just not here, I give up finally after 2 long frustrating hours

Re: Impossible to post pics???

You need to make your photos smaller in size. That's was how I was able to post, I made them 4x6's I think. Hopefully you can resize them.

Good luck

Re: So frustrating

After several hours now I finally got one loaded had to take the size down to 100X177.
It never said why it wouldn't let me load. I never got to the "process button" page all it said is that "image loaded successfully" then went straight to a redirection page that said "This catagory doesn't contain any images" I never saw the process button and it never said why it didn't load after it SAID IT LOADED or what I had to fix for it to actually accomplish a successful load that "was successful" eye roll.
Went to the "how to post images thread" and it says you can copy and paste...you can't do that either...I've already tried over and over again...but now at least I know I have to make it the size of a thumb nail and reduce the saturation to minimum before it will consider loading.
I have never been so frustrated trying to load an image...it makes absolutley NO SENSE.
None the less now I know and I have one pic in my gallery.
Thanks for your help

Thanks that worked ended up making them the size of a thumb nail and reducing the saturation to a minimum before I got a "process button" that I never saw before, didn't know that existed till now.
Why didn't the system just tell me I had to adjust the size?
Could have saved me a barge load of frustration and lost time...it still won't copy and paste though. 3 - 3 1/2 hours on 1 flippin' photo? Uggg
Now I know and later I will see what exactly it looks like in a thread....probably smaller than a postage stamp!

Re: So frustrating

Hi Flafower,

here is a repeat of another post of mine elsewhere in this forum, of a step by step procedure of
uploading photos:

1. Go to: bananas.org/gallery/uploadphoto.php?cat=500
2. click on ‘Browse’ or ’Chose File’ (depending on your browser)
3. Go to your folder, where the picture is located
4. Double click on the photo. That will transfer the location of the photo in your computer to the
Bananas upload site. You can do that with 4 pictures at the time
5. Click on the red Process window. That will put the photo into your Gallery or if you don’t
have one yet, will open one up for you (if I remember correctly)
6. Double click on the photo. That will open up a condensed version of the photo (about post
card size). If you want to post the original size, click anywhere on the image.
7. Left click on “Code for bulletin boards:” at the bottom of the image
8. Then right click on it again
9. In the dialogue box click on “Copy” that will copy the Banana.Org address of the image
10. Go to your post and paste it, where you want it to appear.
That sounds a lot more
complex, than it really is. After the first few hundred photos it will come quite fluently :h:

Good luck!
Olaf
PS: It may also be your browser. I have had problems uploading photos through Firefox, but
Internet Explorer and Google Chrome work fine. If you have other uploading problems see here:
Can't upload any pictures

I couldn't get past this step 4

I'm working with explorer so this wasn't the issue, the issue was the ORG system didn't tell me why it was spitting it back at me and what I had to fix!
I'm not a computer expert here but if the way I use it on all the other sites works just fine without issue why are we fight with this site to post pics? None the less I got a minor hold of it, got a creepy pic posted finally...it's really small and hard to see (huge watermark) but it is there.

Thanks for your help, I will look at the other site link and see if I can do better next time with some tweeking

Re: So frustrating

Hi again Flaflower,

I cannot believe, that the size of the picture is a problem, though I never upload anything as
large as 4 MB. That would make the photo absolutely huge on the Banana site. I use Picasa
and export the pics from there, before I upload them, and in the process reduce them to 800
or 1000 pixels. That brings the whole of the photo down to 400 to 600 KB, but leaves it at a
display size, which shows it off well (see my pictures here: http://www.bananas.org/f9/camera-talk-13034.html for samples).

There are lots of other photos, but you won’t know the data by which they were downloaded.

I have uploaded some pics. with 1200 pixels, but found them quite large and pictures by
others at apparent full size were cumbersome to view.

Please let us know, how you are making out and exactly, which steps you are using, such
as what browser, photo software etc.

Good luck,
Olaf

Good Morning flaflowerfloozie
I hope this will help out another Florida neighbour
If it keeps on giving you trouble just use Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket until you get it figured out . Your pictures will be in your post and everyone will be able to see them. Some times it takes a long time for the pictures to upload for me also , so I just wait and return at a different time or use Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and its free also
in photo bucket just copy the IMG code and paste it in your message body and you will be in picture perfect condition.. Easy free and fun to do :)

Here a picture of the photobucket code pasted into the banana.org

I think some of the designers for the phone cameras are in outer space. They take such huge picture it has a file sizes that a normal email account will not send because you get “file size to large” error.. They set up the phone or camera with the largest size as the default size!!! Then expect every person that buys one to read the manual and change that file size to something more reasonable ..

Glad I'm not the only one who had to overly under size just to get it loaded.
Guess some people just have the touch, I'm not one of them...I don't want huge photos just a viewable one. These were pics taken with my camera not my phone, so that wasn't the issue. Since my honey John doesn't even know how to turn this "majic box" on when he saw my frustration he just ran for the hills...he knew he couldn't fix this...He can fix everything else my man of wonders and inovation but he hasn't a clue about computers..."Honey how do I get to the weather again?" Well OK then :) we know its a camera now.. So in the settings on the camera some place it tells you picture size. That is where you set the size to 650 x 480 . That is a normal print size...Then all your pictures will be small enough to be uploaded any where on the internet.. Thus eliminating anything on your end relating to problems uploading pictures ..
You can always change it back to a larger picture for for personal use if needed

Alright it has to be in here somewhere...
Ok it says in picture size
14 MP (4:3)
12 MP (3:2)
10 Mp (16:9)
6 MP (4:3)
3 MP (4:3)
2 MP (16:9)
1 MP (4:3)
Of coarse I am on 14 MP (4:3) I want high quality pics
so what do you suggest?
I'm a little confused because I have never ever had to adjust this for any other website ever and things get loaded without a single glitch or issue.
In fact untill you said something about it I only ever looked at that feature when I bought the camera. It is a Kodak easyshare C195

Keep looking around in there some where it says print size or picture size . The MP is a quality rating ..Mega Pixals .
Im on my way out the door later ill look for your manual on line and see it that camera will allow different print sizes. Im sure it does but lots of times they reinvent names
Dont be confused ..
You can still up load them to photo bucket in the large size
I understand you never had this problem any where else
I dont want to confuse you
So try one picture on photo bucket just for giggles, That is if you care to

Just across federal highway from Lighthouse point community.

So I'll thank you for all who are keeping a frustrated eye here.
I poked all over this thing and see nothing under picture size other than what I posted above.
So your right it either doesn't exist or they hid it somewhere in here

Re: So frustrating

I do not see, why you should have to compromise the high quality of your photos, just to reduce
them into the framework dictated by this website. You should be able to generate a smaller copy
of them within the photo application in your computer for the purpose of posting and emailing. If
you use Picasa, I have described below, how it is done. I am sure somebody else can do it for you,
if you use Photo Shop.

Me either but the PM's & emails generated by my post also voicing there dismay in the difficulty in posting pics has me realise it ain't me that's the problem.

I would not call myself a computer savvy person by any means, but I'm not new to it either. Nor am I new to posting pics on other websites.

Like I said before and I will repeat it...
I have never had to change a single thing in order for a pic to get posted anywhere....except here! If I am getting any notification it usually says " the pic isn't big enough" like Ebay.
Even if I don't adjust it, it still loads it up just the same.
All places except here is it very straight forward. Hit the button for pics, a page comes up that says browse, find your pic, hit open, it's in there, then hit upload...poof like magic it's there...NOT SO HERE!
You got to bounce all over send it to a host, pull it from a host, make adjustment, send it back and forth till the system accepts it, then send it to the gallery, take it from the gallery and hopefully by the time it gets there you can actually see it, that is if you haven't already given up...I won't be posting many pics of anything with that routine on this website.
A few e-mails I got were not angry with me, but they were angry! Seems they won't ask for help because they don't want to seem like they can't do it or are worried about looking something other than savvy. In this day and age no one wants to seem as though they don't have control of the box in front of them...I don't blame them...me either, but I want to engage and be a part of here and I can't do that if I can't contribute. My first attempt was with my pink vels...I felt beaten & over whelmed as well then.
So whe you get a thread that should have pics and doesn't this is why...
posting this :pics: only serves to frustrate the poster more when they can't actually POST A PIC, I've noticed some time we don't hear from them again...3 and 1/2 hours of pure frustration to get a tiny almost none visable pic posted is just to much

Re: So frustrating

My camera is set for the largest photo setting it has, when I upload them to Photobucket, they automatically get re-sized by PB. I keep originals on a hard drive.

Another way to re-size if you want to keep the large size setting on your camera, down load them to you computer, then open them with Microsoft Office Picture Manager (assuming you have a real PC and not a MAC), then you can edit the picture and change the size (look for something about 640x480) and then after editing do a "save as", give it a new name, dont save over your original. Then you can see if the smaller picture will upload.

Going right into photobucket is easier and the accounts are free.

It's not just her Olaf, I see this over and over with people on this site. I will never understand why they are so stubborn about the need to upload pictures to this site instead of using Photobucket which is actually easier than uploading them here.:03: Another thing they seem to have in common is a lack of willingness to to follow advice (or even acknowledge said advise) on how to host and share photos here using any number of hosting sites like photobucket, tinypix, picasa, flickr etc etc. It's not rocket science.

Trebor was kind enough to share exactly how it's done. Show him some gratitude.

Re: So frustrating

THIS, do this! Any size picture file you want, it makes no difference. You can share photo's from photobucket anywhere you desire, including here! The owner does not want to spend the money required that would allow us to willy nilly upload anything we want and he's not going to make it any easier.

Well the boards time clock is off by about 7 minutes. It took me less than a minute to take the photo, upload to my machine, upload to photobucket and share the link here. I could have done it faster by uploading directly from my phone to photobucket using their app but i wanted to show how you can do it and how easy it is. No need to upload anything here!
