Site problems - I propose starting a donation fund

Hello my Musa friends

This great site has been completely down on my end for a few weeks now, and is ALWAYS painfully slow. I visit a lot of different types of forums on the internet on many different subjects, and good ole bananas forum is always the slowest, taking a long time for anything to load - if at all.

I would like to propose, asking for donations from any and all (including me), to throw in a few bucks, to help pay to get this great site onto a decent server. I bet a lot of folks would pitch in to make this great site faster! I would be willing to help in any way to help organize this. Maybe somehow a change could be made to make those of us that chip in, "supporting members" type thing?? All it would take is a few of us to get this site up and running like it we all want it to right?

I don't know who runs the site, but I would sure love to get this message out to them, and start some sort of a donation fund thingy! I am a total computer dummie, so in no way shape or form be involved with what it would take to speed this site up - but happy to chip in a few bucks!

Feel free to reach out to me on this thread, or private - I hope to hear from whomever owns and runs this site.
Thank you!

Thanks for the positive vibes and apologies for the poor site performance. The site is running on extremely outdated software.
I plan to overhaul it and put up a new forum and archive the current content, keeping it accessible.
The new incarnation will look and feel different and have different features and functionality. Some stuff like the wiki and photo gallery might need to be retired. It would be nice to keep them or have new ones. We shall see how it goes.

I have enjoyed reading the Wiki and many old references. Seems like many questions I am searching on the internet pop up with answers from 2016-2019 time frame. Would those be lost? They are great bundles of information. Anything we can do to help with a transition?

Thank you for responding. I look forward to this great site being the best source of musa info on the internet in the years to come!

Thank you so much for keeping the site going all these years. I might not post on here very frequently, but I am always coming on to read up about different topics and have learnt so much over the years. I really hope all the old content can be maintained as there really isn't anything else online that covers bananas in such detail.

I can understand the difficulty in maintaining a site that's running on outdated software. If you need any help at all with anything feel free to PM me, these days I mostly do iOS app development, but I used to do quite a bit of web development.

Hi folks,

It's been over 7 months since I started this thread. Nothing has changed, in fact the sight has gotten worse....for me anyway! How does it work for the rest of you?

It's been months since I have been able to post anything, usually can't even get the site to open, and when it does, as this post has - it takes over an hour for anything to load.

I'm sure hoping at some point in time, this site, will start working - along with it's archives of great musa info.

It's just so darn sad that a site like this - with so much great info in it's archives, rarely, if ever works these days.
