Snipe hunting is not a gag--it is one of the toughest game birds I know off--I think a lot of people just use that gag story to cover the fact that they can't hit the fast and erratic flying birds!

Snipe hunting as a gag is done without weapons where the "snipe" don't live or may live its not done for any other purpose than to have fun :^)

I just checked by pressing the edit button and the link is no longer there meaning a mod must have removed my picture of a hotdog.

When I moved that hunting thread to the X-Files, I did 2 things:
1. I moved the thread to a holding area only viewable to moderators
2. I removed the images from our photo gallery

This thread about the reminder about offensive content was posted in regards to 2 things.
1. Uploading off topic images here to Bananas, as well as
2. the offensive thread.
I think the title of the thread was descriptive enough to warn anyone sensitive to the topic. I read the posts here and reconsidered and put the thread back where it was. Have at it.
I have not restored the images, and do not plan to.

Be courteous and please do not upload pictures like that here. The most recently uploaded images are viewable from our main page.
The general rule is, if you have to ask if its allowed, its probably not.
Use your judgment and be courteous of your peers. In addition, if its a topic you are sensitive to, don't read the thread. I realize the pics were unavoidable and that takes us back to the other aspect.

Fair enough?

LOL...oh yeah...I know all about taking people 'snipe hunting!' Give em a pillow case and a stick and set em loose on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Then you tell em something like 'I'm gonna go around to the other side and flush them out and you catch them when they come at ya.'

Well I have seen some of the material that is blocked for good conscience sake here.. like the "adult humor" thread.. that's for PM's, emails, & such.... Not to say they aren't funny, but not for here... :^)

Migael, you have been misled or maybe on a "wild goose chase", with all the wetlands there in LA you are probably right in the middle os some very good snipe hunting. I love snipe hunting when I find a place where there are enough to hunt. They get up flying side to side and are very hard to hit, but good to eat.

Thanks Beth but I won't be commenting. I had to take my first day off of here while home after seeing some of the.... " hunters hit animals on purpose with your car" and other accusations of intentional cruelty. So not true, yet these posts are ok.....Think I'll stick to lurking for a while.....

Thanks Jared very fair decision on the subject.

My 2 cents: I am in agreement on the issue with the pictures and I understand the point of view. But do not agree with all topics only being on banana's ...

In order to make a forum active and to get it to grow is to get lots of activity and in order to do that you need to get people to socialize on the site and that includes talking about members interests and those that have the same interest chiming in so people can get to know each other even better!

Common Snipe

I can send a link to a hunting season and limit on snipe if you like. Alabama season on snipe is Nov 14 to Feb 28 with a limit of 8 a day--if you have enough shells--that would take me at least 4 boxes.

Seaboard Broiled Snipe

Recipe By: Jacqueline E. Knight

Amount Measure Ingredient Preparation Method
Snipe - 1 to 2 per person
1 tablespoon Cooked crumbled bacon per bird
1 teaspoon Minced sweet pickle per bird
2 tablespoons Softened butter per bird
1/2 teaspoon Seasoned salt per bird
1/4 teaspoon Freshly-ground black pepper per bird
1 teaspoon Paprika per bird
1 slice Raw bacon per bird

Fill cavity with crumbled browned bacon and sweet pickle, mixed.
Truss birds, cover with softened butter, and dust with seasoned salt,
pepper, and paprika. Wrap in bacon slice. Brown in the broiler. When
browned, reduce heat to medium or lower rack and broil for 13 to 16
minutes more, basting and turning frequently
