Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
I was just feeling right to put pictures of these plants here because they germinated from some of seeds Tog has send to me in one of ours exchanges.
I miss his advices more and more every day.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
So cool, Dalmatiansoap! I hope to be looking at the same thing very soon. I have Tog's seeds just freshly sown, so they're not quite up, yet. Great that you will have one of the best connections to him - his banana plants! Good luck with growing them - they look fantastic. |

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
I have an Alocasia that Tog sent me and I keep it on the window sill next to the Computer. Every time I see it , it reminds me of him.
Hope his seeds germinate too. I do still miss him and his jokey PMs.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
OMG wow! This comes as such a HUGE shock to me! I've been away from the site the past couple of weeks while I traveled a bit to see family/friends. Things like this always make me realize how short life is and why we must cherish every last moment.
I feel truly blessed and fortunate to have known tog through the site....even if it were only for a matter of months. He was such a huge inspiration to me and has definitely had a positive effect on my life. I was always amazed at his unending knowledge of reptiles and plants, his wonderful sense of humor, generosity and very kind nature. He always had such a positive, light-hearted energy about him and I will always miss that. Tog inspired me to start growing Ensete's and gave me quite a bit of knowledge about them. I finally have a small Ensete Superbum and I think I'm going to name it Tog in his honor. It wasn't from him, but I feel it is a way I can honor and remember him. I hope that he would have appreciated this. I hope his family plants an Ensete on his grave. This is such a huge loss to everyone he touched throughout his life. My best wishes and most sincere condolences go out to his daughter and all his family/friends. Stefanie, your father was a very wonderful man! *hugs* I would like to posthumously thank him for all the knowledge he has given me and to thank him for being such an overwhelming inspiration. Tog, you were such an amazing person in every way. Your passing is a great loss for all of us and you will be remembered with kind regards forever. I always loved this picture of him. It is entitled "Me and my 'bum" which I always thought really depicted his sense of humor. I'm saving it to my computer now to always have it to remember him by. Well everyone.....a moment of silence to contemplate the greatness, achievements, memories and thoughts of such an amazing soul. You'll always have a special place in all of our hearts, Tog!

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
A note of thanks to Scot (Chironex) for sending me a batch of M. violascens (pisang Tok) seeds from Tog in the original baggie. It still had Togs incredibly tiny printing on it. They're soaking now. It seems fitting to mention that the old man told Scot he should put them in his mouth and imagine them growing before sowing. I got a good chuckle out of this knowing his sense of humor. Still, they will spend some time in the "pie hole" before planting.....guess you get the last laugh buddy.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
Cassie- for me to be confused with Harvey is quite a compliment IMHO.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
Tog seemed to really enjoy life. He was also very generous, sending me seeds after I simply mentioned that I liked a ginger in one of the photos he posted.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
Wow what a shock and a huge loss. I just noticed lilraverbois signature and found this thread. Tog always had a wealth of information and was always willing to offer advice, solicited or not. I learned much from his posts and was envious of his post of hunting down new plants and bananas. You will be missed my friend.
