Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
How sad to hear that Tog Tan has passed away so early. He must have been a very special person to many of you. My condoleances to his beloved ones. Strength to you all.

Today would've been Tog's 53rd birthday.
Still miss you Tog...wish you were here.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
I had originally come to the board to ask about a little musa I planted last week, only to find this post. Out of respect, I think I'll ask another day.
I was only just getting to know him, being a new member. I'm dumbstruck. God, we get so little time, we should cherish each moment. God bless and keep him. I know he'd have taught me many things. Gino

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
Jewish tradition holds that we never write out G-d in full. Just the way I was brought up. :-)
Judaism does not prohibit writing the Name of God per se; it prohibits only erasing or defacing a Name of God. However, observant Jews avoid writing any Name of God casually because of the risk that the written Name might later be defaced, obliterated or destroyed accidentally or by one who does not know better. Observant Jews avoid writing a Name of God on web sites like this one because there is a risk that someone else will print it out and deface it. To avoid writing the Name, Orthodox Jews (and sometimes other denominations) substitute letters or syllables, for example, writing "G-d" instead of "God."

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
I'm sorry Howard, I did not know that. Thanks for explaining.
Ya know, if Tog was here, I wonder if he'd even tell us that it's his birthday. He was too humble/shy to have everyone wish him happy birthday. Hey Stefanie, thanks for posting that pic...it's my favorite!

Tog would be laughing his ass off right now since we managed to derail his own thread. See Tog, the International Derailers Association continues your proud legacy.

Re: In Memoriam: Tog Tan
I am happy to report that I finally received the banana seeds from Tog, today! Wow - those took awhile. So worth the wait, though. Just sorry I can't email Tog, and tell him I got them, so I'll tell you guys, instead. I took a picture of the envelope for you guys to see, with a label over my particulars. The stamps are so cool. Check out how many kinds of banana seeds he sent me. I am so thrilled. Thank you Tog - you were so nice to do this for me. I will germinate the seeds exactly as you instructed me to, and try to make you proud, with my results. Your spirit will still be very much alive and well, in all your banana plants left behind. Getting your envelope today Tog, really made my day. Even from the great beyond... Thanks again, friend. Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 06-25-2009 at 02:40 PM. |
