![]() Words cannot describe how shocked and affected I am by this news. First of all, my deepest sympathy and condolences, go out to you, Stephanie. My own father died suddenly of a heart attack at 52, so I know just how you feel! So sorry dear - I see how close you were with him, by all the pics. What a lovely girl you are - look so much like him. A couple of weeks ago, Tog and I began chatting through email, back and forth. Lorax (Beth) introduced us, and I was very much enjoying our banana chats. I am currently waiting on some seeds from Tog, that he mailed me only a couple of weeks ago! I should get them tomorrow or Monday! I am so going to cherish those banana seeds now more than ever, and always remember that they came from such a generous, friendly, and wonderful person. Even in the short time I knew Tog, his personality came through, and I liked him right from the start. What a super guy. I told him I'd contact him by email, the very second I received the seeds, but sadly I think I will cry when I receive them - like I am now. I will be sure to post a pic of the envelope and the seeds that Tog was kind and generous enough to send me. Thank you, friend. I will grow your seeds the best I can, and I appreciate all the knowledge you passed onto me. My only way to show my gratitude to you, is to grow your banana plants to be as wonderful and vibrant as you were. Goodbye my friend and thank you. Until we meet again... ![]() Sherry |

I got to know Tog only a few months ago through a common friend. In that short few months, we have only done 1 trip up to his favorite spot to look at Palm trees and Banana.
We were planning to have another trip to Rompin. Just last Sat, we were chating and having fun on our way to Seremban nursery. Now he has left us. I really wsh i have known him much much longer or he could stay back a few more years. I really miss this energitic, humourous, knowledgeble, friendly and most important of all, unselfish, willing to share and kind. Tog, I really miss you and your accompany.... and your favorite cigar smell.... You will be remembered, that is for sure. Rest In Peace. Regards, YC from Kuala Lumpur |

I will miss Tog alot, he was always helpful and so friendly, I feel like we have been old friends. I just lost my mother last month and my heart goes out to Tog and his family.
Although, I don't post as much as I should since I work offshore (28/14) but have made myself a promise to post more and enjoy the fellowship and all we have here with our friends. Godspeed my friend. hydroid |

Oh no, it was a shock for me! I will also miss Tog Tan, I've asked him for some pics for my new English version of my banana book. In the age of 53 years is too early to die, I'm only 7 years younger.
I hoped, that he also will support me together with Helton (Frutas Raras) in my banana project in Brazil with his expericences and seeds for Helton and me. My project is still in the begins, and this is also a big loss for me to loose one of the importantest banana experts. But Tog Tan lives further in the bananas and also in my book. Bananas were his life! Stefanie, you have to stay strong. And keep his bananas and his experiences, this is surely the last wish of your dad! You are welcome in the every case in the forum, Tog Tan lives in you further! Best wishes Basjoofriend

I have been a member on here for some time, but never got around to posting, but the shock of hearing about Tog, who I met on another forum, is too much and I need to convey my sadness.
I too only knew him for a couple of months, but his personality, energy and humour was infectious. I can only echo what has been said already. I think of Tog every time I look out of the window now. I asked him if he was growing Siam Ruby, and his reply was "Siam Ruby? You mean Siam Weedby? ![]() " That echos in my mind everytime I look at my Siam Weedby just outside the window. Stefanie, It must be difficult for you right now, but there are lots of people from all around the globe sharing your sudden sense of loss. Such was your father's infectious popularity. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Dave

stefanie, you are most welcome here.your dad was loved here by all. he was a banana genius. and his pictures are some of the best ive seen. you have support here if you need us. his sence of humor got me over some of the rough spots when i was having a bad day. and he always made me smile. if you need us send out pms to talk, this is something you can not deal alone by keeping it inside.

You could always count on Tog for great advice. Although I've only been on the board for a month, it was a pleasure to interact with him. I've read so many threads on bananas.org and Tog always had something to offer. Whether it was advice, a laugh or even offering to send something. He had a fantastic way of keeping it simple and effective.
So much knowledge and such a willingness to teach. I'll miss you and wish I had more time to get to know you. |

He was a wiz on more plants than I ever heard of. I got some Dragon Tree seeds & posted a pic of the tree I got the seeds from. He said they should sprout in 2 weeks & they did- in EXACTLY 2 weeks. Then, he posted pics of his seedlings and told me the scientific name is Dracaena Draco - I never woulda known. He had everything growing at his nursery besides bananas. Tog and Lorax know plants more than anyone I know.

I don't believe there are words to adequately describe how i feel about Togs passing. We chatted almost daily. he was one of the funnest smartest guys iv had the privilege to have known. I will miss him!!!
May I express my deepest sympathies to his Family. I am sure the suddenness of his untimely death must have been a triable shock to you just as it was to me. My Hart goes out to you all. I will say a Prayer for him at Mass this Sunday. May Gods Blessings Be Apon You

You guys said nearly everything I wanted to say.
I posted a pic of my Florida Variegate corm just moments before I found this thread. When I saw the pic in my gallery, I wondered what Tog would have to say about it. If not for that, I would have never posted it. I could count on him to lift me up or give me hell....same thing. I would end up smiling either way. One reality hit me during all of this, we are all an integral part of this family and make this place what it is..special. Tog made it all the more so. Don't take anyone for granted, and appreciate the very brief time we've been given to impact one anothers lives. Tog made an impact in many. I often wished that I were more like him. |

Pauly, an apropriate cake would have some sort of half born duck egg or something mixed in! Some of the threads he started here are so classic! Maybe they should be put in a special section for safe keeping?
