Re: Happy birthday Bigdog!

Thanks, everybody! I actually spent most of my day re-seeding the front yard, lol. I killed it many weeks back, then covered it with topsoil (me, my shovel, wheelbarrow and rake!), finally got around to applying starter fertilizer today, then grass seed (100% Heat Tolerant Kentucky Bluegrass - Thermal Blue variety), more topsoil on top of that, straw, and finally a bit of water to get it started. You want to talk about a job!! The "topsoil" I had was from a local construction site, and was supposed to have been sifted. It was cheap. I had to go through each shovel-full of soil and take out the clay clods. I covered it with mushroom compost instead of fooling around with that "topsoil" again, lol.

Next time...I get a Bobcat! :lurk:

I know it's a bit late in the year here to reseed, but what doesn't come up now will in the spring. I've always loved the look of Kentucky Bluegrass, and was thrilled when they came out with these new heat-tolerant varieties.

Did have a nice dinner with the girlfriend and a buddy with whom I share the same birthday (although he's a year older). Good day. Thanks again,

Frank

Hey Bigdog- as an old nursery/garden center manager I can tell you that one of the best times to reseed is in the winter just before a snow. I just reseeded my lawn last week for the fall. Good luck, and have a back massage on me!
