Fruiting Banana at a Hydroponic shop

I'm not sure if this has been posted before on Bananans.org but I searched for some images on Flickr and came across this banana picture that is fruiting in a hydroponic shop. Amazing! And to top it off, it looks like it could be Super Dwarf Cavendish which is notoriously troublesome to fruit. Anyone want to comment on the variety?

I like your hydroponics banana set up. I would like to know more! Do you have any how-to articles written?

That is amazing to me! Its the only time I have ever seen the nursery claims of Super Dwarf Cavendish being able to fruit and fruit well indoors, actually come true! There is a very good amount of fruit on that plant (probably at least 40 or 50 bananas) and its not even by an exceptionally sunny window.
Thanks for posting! I have a hydrophonic system somewhere. Maybe I can try it out on my pathetic looking super dwarf cavendish.

I think the problem with sdc is that most people take them in and out of the house for summer. I think the big problem is one of unsteady temps. I'm testing this theory out at church where I've taken a mini sdc to grow out as a houseplant. Mine that I always take in and out seems to choke up right after it's exposed to lower fall temps. I think if you could keep them at 60 or so all year, you would have better luck.

Thanks for the explanation there Sandy. That makes sense why it doesn't seem to want to fruit.

Gail, my setup is in another thread. This one here is using a Megafarm system. Which has a 20gal reservoir and 20gal growing chamber. Sorry I'm not really an expert, but you can try Youtube for Deep Water Culture.

Gail, I this video shows a very simple similar set up...
