Hey everybody, I love bananas of all shapes and im looking to show it off more around my room! I'm super pumped to find this forums and i want to get some ideas for banana decorating. What sort of ornamental bananas would be best? Im ok with a few flies but I'd prefer they take a while to totally rot. could I mumifie them meybe? my girfriend thinks the whole banana interest I have is weird so I want something to show off how cool they can be.

I'm sorry...do you want to decorate your banana with dead flies?
I'm not sure I've ever come across banana decorating before. If you want bananas to look nice ie ornamental then Musa Velutina is what you want. |

Hi Aplenty
,if you are looking for suggestions for room sized ornamental bananas I can think of no better than the ornata. Here are pictures of some and the story how I got hold of one (you'll have to scroll down to the first post): I Think I Scored a Coup How you can get one, I have no idea and you are not likely to get any help on that from this forum, unless you give us an indication where on this planet you hail from. ![]()

Can you clarify? Are you looking to grow ornamental bananas so you can use their flowers for decorative purposes?

Musa Velutina produces ornamental pink bananas.
Musa Velutina - Bananas Wiki There is also a variety of Ornata that produces pink bananas, but I can't remember the name.

If I understand this correctly, you are looking for actual FRUIT to decorate your room with? Or are you looking for plants? If it's fruit you are looking for, I can tell you it will not work well as decor for more than a few days.....then it's gonna turn brown, rot and become a mess/smell. I guess maybe there is some way to shellac them or something so they don't rot, but I wouldn't count on that too much. Not to crush your dreams or anything.
