How short can Musa Zebrina be kept?

I have a couple of very nice Zebrina in pots that are about 4 foot tall, they seem to be pretty prolific pup producers, and grow very fast from pups. I want to keep the mothers, and use the pups as annuals each year outside as my house is too small to keep them all. How short can Zebrina be kept in good shape in a pot, while not being detrimental to the plant?:2738:

I have a potted one in my office as well, and for me, it's seems to stay about that size in the pot without any work, as the pot size constrains the growth. That said, I have divided it a few times. I'd recommend keeping a pup or two in the pot, as eventually it may bloom, and the mother will die, and one of those pups will replace it.

I have cut them off about a foot up pulled plant up, dried, and stored for the winter. Be sure the roots are dry before storing.

I had wondered about just the corm without the stem. I have read Zebrina can take temps that will kill the top and live, they should be able to store bare root in a crawl space I would think. Maybe the pstem is too much of a burden on the corm, and removing it triggers dormancy or something.
