Re: Summer Update....
Looking great Rick!!!!
Well done!!! You got them all looking good and quite a lot ground planted already! I just remembered what the necrosis you were getting on your Gros Michelle might be,it can be Potassium deficiency as this deficiency doesnt affect the opening leafs but it affects the leafs afterwards. In other words, some fertilizer might help I see its better already though! Does your Mysore open leafs with colored underside? In the picture the underside seems plain whitish green. The colored underside of the leafs is a characteristic of Mysore and if it doesnt have it,it probably is something else. Happy banana growing!!!! And may you get some bananas this year!!!

Re: Summer Update....
you are right it is not a mysore.... I've mislabeled it , it is a Rajapuri.
The only strange nana is the Sikki Red Tiger planted in the ground.... you can see how the last three leaves are bent.... I don't know why.... |

They look great... how did your red tiger lose it's stripes? My red tigers have deep red stripes and maroon undersides. I see you have fanpalms too... Chamaerops?

Re: Summer Update....
Good to hear you know what it is! About the Musa sikkimensis leafs, from what i have read on similar cases, its a deficiency of a certain element(i dont remember which),just add some more macro and micronutrient fertilizer and it should fix itself soon

Re: Summer Update....
Hi Rick!
Maybe your fertilizer is missing an element? Say Boron,Ca or something else? On the other hand,it could be an overfertilizing issue. With organics you dont get any burn or have to worry about overfertilizing and with a good schedule, they dont show any deficiencies as well. The difference of the pseudostem color could be due to different growing conditions of them. I have found pot grown bananas to be more colorful than when ground planted(possibly because they are smaller there as well). An example was my Ice Cream which was really pink everywhere when potted but all new leafs after ground planting it in the same spot i was keeping it potted, never had that much pink,if at all on the pseudostem. I do think your bigger one will eventually get red on the pseudostem as well eventually.

Re: Summer Update....
Hi Rick!
I found out what the twisting rachis is caused by as my Kandrian developed it as well this summer. It was excess fertilizer. I didnt fertilize for some time and the problem was over after a few leafs. I now fertilize less at a time and its fine
