I think that is same plant. Red Manipoor and Darjeeling to. Just different names from other part of world.
This is right question for Gabe. As I have seen till now there are only two typs of Sikki seeds, big ones and all smaller I have had looked same. We ll wait for Jack. :woohoonaner: |

Re: Sikkimensis Red Tiger vs Sikkimensis Daj Giant
Hi
what I know is ; This must be confirmed or invalidated. Musa sikkimensis is a specie from Eumusa section found by M KURZ year 1878 in north India mountain (1600/2000m). Specie described by M SIMMONDS in 1956. Some variantions do exist as red tiger, manipur, and Darjeeling geant. Maybe there are others variations But some told me that vhen you approach to manipur the sikkimensis specie get more red colors on the leaves. I have green sikki, and red tiger, anyway I hope so. The green sikki is green (its not original what I say) red tiger shows litte red stipes when young and so in the middle ol the leaves when bigger. Darjeeling geant seems to be a geant sikki variation found in darjeling hills. All what I know about sikkimensis |
Re: Sikkimensis Red Tiger vs Sikkimensis Daj Giant
Thanks all.
The reason why this question came up is cause recently I saw a Sikki in someone's garden with red stripes and very lare but also WIDE leaves (small pups as well). My Sikki Red Tiger also has the large leaves, but they aren't nearly as wide. So therefore 'expected it to be another sport, maybe Daj Giant. Hope there's someone out there who grows them all;) Gabe!? |

I have one like that in ground for some time now. Leafe shape is same as that one but no red flakes at all.

I think that there is just a lot of natural variation in bananas, Especially in the seeded varieties.
