I'm pretty sure they will.... I don't know how big the autrian market can be, but I think that it does not justify a so specialized shop with all that different cultivars only for them....

Hi Carlosfv,

I got it from the US and it came from Jeff Earl. I don't remember the price now, but he has auctions on eBay. Spring/early summer is the time he usually sells them. But he doesn't ship outside of the US. I received the plant with a "stopover" and it was resent to me and sneaked through customs. I have been lucky.
But Exoticgarten is claiming to have them for sale here in Europe. I posted the website just a few days ago here in this thread. Even though I own one myself, I asked them, where they got it from, because it must be the first time ever in Europe this variety is for sale in a shop. And it would be good to check if it's the "real thing". So far I got no answer, but it'll be interessting.

I'm growing the California Gold (40 cm stem - still small, but from a good sized corm) outside in the ground, side by side with a Rajapuri. The Cali Gold survived the 7 freezes I had (down to - 3 ° C) so far this winter much better than the Rajapuri. The cigar pushing out of the Cali Gold still shows some green inside the folded leaf. And this part is unprotected. The stem is covered in cloth. The stem of the Rajapuri is also covered, but all leaves have been gone in the second night below 0°. A few days ago I had to cut one third of the Rajapuri's stem, because it didn't look to good. It was about 1,10 m before. Of course there's mulch around the plants.

Ok, I was sick of waiting for exogarten to reply so I bought the Saba from Thailandplant.... and I also bought a Pisang Susu 'cause I was intrigued by the fact that its fruit has the very same nutrition's fact as milk (and it's called milk banana).
BALINESE PISANG SUSU, MILK OF NUTRITION | Bali Tour and Travel Guide Blog
Not that I bbelieve that I'll ever taste one from my nana but I like to deam about it!

About exogarten , the least I can say is that they have lost some money.... and they will not get good advertising from me.

Bad news from Thailand....

that's the mail I got few minutes ago:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Riccardo,

I am sorry. Currently there is the laws and regulations of European Customs for the Banana, which I can not ship Banana plant with Phytosantiary Certificate. Please let me know, if you need to get Phytosanitary Certificate. I will refund your money back. I am sorry for your inconvenience.

Best regards,
Surachart

Is there any chance he misunderstood something you wrote him? Maybe doing a mistype, wanting to write "i can not ship Banana plant without Phyto"? I ask because he then says "please let me know if you need to get a Phyto". Why else would you like to get a Phyto if not to accompany your plants?

I don't think so because I got from him other two packages with Phytosanitary certificate with no problems....

Maybe he thought you asked to get it without a Phyto this time? Otherwise he might not be able to get a Phyto with EU standards for some unknown reason. You may want to ask him if he might be able to fulfill your order latter this year

Here's what he says on his e-bay auctions:

We can ship this bulb with the Phytosanitary Certificate to worldwide the inspection from your customs ***except Europe. For these kind of plant/bulb(s), for Europe customers, if you can risk to receive it without Phytosanitary Certificate, please contact us(lak_postsale@hotmail.com).

Problem solved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Riccardo,

This morning I just ask a chief of Export Plant Quarantine Service about the problem of shipping some plants (Banana) to Europe. Good luck! He can allow me ship the plants to Europe with Phytosanitary certificate at a time. So I would ship banana plants to you. I will resend an invoice with PayPal again. That is OK?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Surachart

PS. I think approximately the middle of this year. I will can ship normally some plant to Europe when my nursery have registered and inspected from Export Plant Quarantine Service .
