Hi Zaxxon,

Great photos. From which country in Europe do you come from?

Best wishes,
Markus

Re: Musa Velutina

WOW
that is great.May I ask you how old the plant is and if you started it from a seed or a pup?

Re: Musa Velutina

the plants were started from seeds about 3 years ago. I've managed to get seeds to germinate in moist cotton. Then transplanted the seeds to soil immediately after. the one which flowered last summer is now cut down and a new pup is now sprouting.

Re: Musa Velutina

it was so many seeds in them, that it was impossible to eat anything.

Re: Musa Velutina

where did you get the seeds from i was thinking of buying some but then i read that they have very low germination rates so i dropped the idea but your post has motivated me to try once again.
thanks

Re: Musa Velutina

I bought the seeds from Frö, Frön & Fröer - Impecta Fröhandel and Vägg i Vägg, two Swedish sites. I had 30 seeds an I got two to germinate, efter five weeks in moist cotton.

thanks zaxxon,
I would first need to learn schwedish to order from there...lol. I hope you generally don't throw the banana plant after it has fruited out from your window like the swedes do to a christmas tree:ha:

Re: Musa Velutina

Nice, did it set seed?

Re: Musa Velutina

No it didn´t. It was flowering in autumn and I had to overwinter it cool and dark.
I think this was the reason.

Wow the plants are looking really healthy and you don't seem to have any problems with spider mites neither. By the way, is that a naranjilla to the left in the top picture? ;)
