Hey Ante how does olive smell when its burning? Mine aren't big enough to prune so I thought I'd just ask if they have nice aroma?

I belive that this story fits here the best so let me tell U a fairy tail about bananas in Croatia, lol.
As many of you knows I was looking for Orinocos for a long time now as they might be a cultivar suitable for unprotected growth here in Dalmatia.
Saba was my great wish too of course
And now thanks to our member and my dear friend island cassie they are finally here:

Just look at this huge Saba corm

but after this all I can say is that sometimes dreams do come true and Yes it was worth waiting
Balana familly juniors

THANK YOU CAROL

Dalmatiansoap : I'm excited to read about the corms you recieved ! It will be really nice if you can leave them unprotected, so they grow from scratch to a nice clump !!!.
The corms you have look really healthy and big!!!
I assume you will put everything in a pot and leave it indoor till it makes nice roots with a stable temperature? I'm curious to read more about the evolution of these corms. And I'm very happy to see you trying this.

THX Elmar,
they will be (allready are) poted till new growth for sure.
Orinocos will be left in ground all year and unprotected in winter. I ll just find for them shaltered positions becouse of winds here and I belive it will make it.
I have one E. venticosum in soil for whole winter now and even with lack of sun still looks alive.
I still dont know about Saba but lets wait first to see how will they all go through shock stage.

After 100 year that will be a perfect olive orchard.
I am just curious what the price of this size plant is, in /Horwacja/

These are 3 y/o plants almost 170 cm high and price range is about 13-15€ per plant. Same rare spicie that produce high quality pollen are about 45€.
One y/o seedlings are about 5-8€.
What about your prices in Poland?

The price is very changeable - about 21€ per plant (half of your size) and as big as yours..... well its hard to say.
But here we have for sale ususally wild olives, there are ornamental, container plants and nobody expects fruits.
I know one guy who whave it in the garden but he lives close to the seaside where winters are ususally mild in comparte to other parts of the country, nevertheless his olive looks like 'bonsai'.

Hey, I just posted something & it's not here! Well, here I go again.
Ante, we have a tv show here called "Dirty Jobs" & few days ago they show olive orchard & how they pick & sort them. And then the pressing into oil. The host asked what is EXTRA virgin oil & the guy said "it comes from real UGLY olives" LOL
Your job was "dirtier" cuz you had to carry those sacks where they just loaded a truck. Anyway, I thought of you
This better post this time.
