Steam and roots are growing almost togheder, steam goes up!
I have no expirience with rockwool ( Im keeping that one for winter) but it looks much easyer in early germination stadium.

My guess is that if it's growing up, it is the leaf/stem portion of the plant. Seed germination/growth is dependent on gravity...roots grow down and leaves/stems grow upward.

PS....mmmmm....cannabis. LOL.

What comes out first will eventually become the corm. Roots appear first from the side, or top depending on the species, followed by the stem. They will find their own way, don't worry. You might want to transfer them to some compost quite quickly as the roots start to appear. I start mine in vermiculite, once they start to germinate I transfer them to compost to grow on.

I use a mix of compost and perlite 50:50. I will keep them in the propagator until they get too big then move them into my conservatory, generally it depends on the temperature. If it's too cold at night I put them back into the propagator at night and bring them out during the day.

Sweet. Firstly, I think that this whole banana grafting thing is quite useless, but even though you might have cut your Helen's hybrid too far from the mother corm, the small youngling might still make new roots and start growing on itself. At this point I would move it inside and keep it in the warm house temperatures even overnight. Keep the soil moist, not wet and give the plant a little bit of the sun every day. Then it might catch on...

I'm also interested in that Mauro Gibo technique, mainly whether it works for you. I read it sometime in January, but never tried, as it's, according to my opinion, very unsafe and useless method. But it might work in this case in favor of the plant. If it works at all.

Good luck to you...

Yakuza,

I noticed you currently do not have an introduction (Member Introductions), a pin on the map (Member Map), or your location listed in your profile (View Profile: YAKUZA). Where are you located?

YAKUZA is from Belgium, close to Shaffen (weather sticker), but I agree he should introduce himself more to us.

Hi,

Something similar happend to a DC last year. I put the pup in a glass of water and waited. After several weeks this root started to grow. It survived the winter and is growing quite well now.

Well, Marguerite, that's the ingenious gardening spirit. Although I use water adaptation for many plants I propagate by cutting, this would never occur to me with bananas. Good thinking there.
