The senders were from USA and with quite normal names,i can assure you! The packages were supposedly properly labeled and of small size. Of course if it works for othersin Italy, its worth a try if he got plenty of pups!

That's exactly my plan.....

Now I have to find some uncommon 'nanas cultivar worth the effort of bringing them to italy....

One is the grey saba suggested by Jack Daw....
Let's make a list....

Maybe it's worth a try to contact Novi, if he is nearby... he has tons of TCed plantlets...
Indonesia is one of the biggest (and most beautiful) country in the world and Novi is living in west part of Indonesia while I'm going to the opposite side....in another country . I'm going to spend some hours in kuala Lumpur, but it's still in another Country and it would be the same as to ask him to ship anything to Italy...

Now that is really interesting! It basically shows that if you radoml pick pups from every banana you see that is different from the others you already collected pups of,you will return with many cultivars that are generally unavailable and certainly unavailiable in Europe! You could maybe write down the local names of the cultivars that interest you and use some coins to have someone assist you in getting these there!
Personally I would be very interested in the semi-parthenocarpic M. balbisiana cultivar of Vietnam listed in the paper,in any Fehi and in AA culivars that look like normal Musa acuminata as well as in the Pisang Kepok Kappas, the Grey Saba Jack suggested! If you could share with me any of the above,it would be great!

I don't think there is much info in Fe'i hardiness but I bet they can survive in zone 9 even if they burn to the ground in bad years or even annually! Most edible bananas are derived from species too tropical, yet they survive in pretty cold areas! My climate in Pyrgos would certanly allow me to grow it successfully!

But maybe there aren't any restrictions between Malaysia and Phillipines, that's what I was getting at.

It needs a hot and dry season and then milder, slightly wetter one, if I got it correctly. Something for Calabria, Cantabria or Sicily maybe.

Looks like I'll have to rent an entire cargo plane to bring back every cultivar I'll find there....

Be prepared to send me some apples if you'll heard of me to be the first person to be jailed not for drugs' smugglling but for BANANAS' smuggling....

Go small on most you will find and you will be surprized how many you can fit! Send some back home as well in small packages(if you can fit them in small flat rate boxes/envelops,prefer that as i think they are not checked as much),use your friend luggage as well you know how it is...Only for cultivars you really like get a little bigger pup. Water suckers at 4-6" size have plenty of roots to survive fine. I dont have experience with sword pups of that size though...

I will Do what you are confortable with, use you logic and you will be fine!

By the time we find out what happened, the trial will already be over. 65 years unconditionally in special, maximum security correctional facility for asocial individuals incapable of reintegration into society. Or was that Thailand that offered this sort of recreation for smuggling?

I don't know the importation laws in your area but I think you should at least find a Mangat or someone who can send a clean one with papers. I would love to grow a try a mangat. They have orange flesh fruit, I think we should start growing more bananas with orange flesh fruit and get them distributed. You can see a picture of it here

We'll see what I'll be able to find.... if you look a a famous thai nursery who sell 'bananas o internet you'll see that there are really plenty of different cultivars , most of all I've never hearf of , and I suppose that in Philippines will be the same.... anyway, If I'll find a nursery in Manila surroundings , maybe I'll be able to get 'nanas called by name instead of paying the kids to bring me "any uncommon and different kind of 'nana you can find in a 10 Km radius....".... LOL

What yard? Who was talking about a yard there? It's not Europe. Anyways, stay away from drugs, they are very cheap in the Phillipines and make sure that what you send are plants only. That should keep you safe and full of new experience.
