Default recycling lumber...

A few blocks from me someone is building a house and I guess the workers messed up on the framing and they tore a bunch of it out and threw it in a dumpster. Loaded up a truck twice with 2x4's. 2 of my boys are pulling out all the nails. Gonna cut the to equal length stain them and use them as the sides for a few new vegetable beds I need to build... I am so glad I found that before it ended up going to the land fill!!!!

That's going to rot out pretty quickly, especially in Florida
Is it going to be off the ground ?

With my coldframes I use a "sacrificial strip" of 2x2 screwed in to the bottom . When this rots out it's easily replaced. A sheet of plastic would help with the inside of the raised beds.

Good to know im not the only one who wanders around salvaging things. I like to drive thru subdivisions that are just being built to dig through their bin and get wood.

a lot of contractors are so wasteful especially the ones that are building a single custom home for someone. They don't get as concerned about spending someone else's money when they don't have a a few boss's to report to...

While getting all the wood out there was also almost full large box of deck screws in there...

You should see what the movie industry throws away. Not just cabinet grade maple plywood used for the camera dollies, but all sorts of appliances, furniture, lumber, you name it! The people that work on the sets usually get first shot at it, but some of the stuff goes home with higher ups.

Yes, but many jungle films now are shot on-location in jungles, or else the background footage is shot on-location and digitally composited into the greenscreen shots of the actors, because we wouldn't want Mr. Fancypants to get a bugbite, would we? Film and theatre tend to recycle their big plants....

Yeah, plastic liner works wonders
I have very little scrap from building my addition
I burn any scrap left-over - small pieces

Let's see you guys aren't alone. I picked-up a $1800 treadmill that only needed the key card($5), my wheel barrel, and I bet I made $300 in rummage sales on other peoples trash. :^)
