Make your own movable container with ease
Make your own movable container: no aching pain.
Here is an idea to easily take the plants inside the garage when its too cold, and then take them out when its above 45 to get some light and water(from rain). My container plants that are stored in the garage are doing well; green and all. Re: movable container with ease
My grow room is on the second floor as I don't have a garage, a suitable basement or a spare room downstairs. Any tricks getting large containers upstairs? Lol

Re: movable container with ease
I use the big tubs from Wal-mart with rope handles, they are much cheaper if you buy them in the store instead of online, just have to be careful not to press the drill too hard when drilling holes in the bottom. Holds lots of soil, and the handles help to move them around. If you get black, they look pretty much like a giant pot. It wouldnt be too hard to make a flat panel for it to sit on with coaster wheels from Lowes, etc.

Re: movable container with ease
Susan
I was thinking of using these tubs also for lack of yard space and esp for those unknown tcs I purchased from FHN. Has anyone successfully grown naners to maturity and harvest on these? In the meantime untill we can definitely ID the tcs we purchased from FHN. I used these before for other reasons and they would easily break/punctured @the bottom when hit by a shovel. I guess we can reinforce the integrity of the plastic with duct tape so that it doesnt crack open when the naners get too big and heavy for the tub. Happy Growing! BTW Susan you really know how to keep naners happy & healthy! What cultivars are they? Last edited by Going Bananas : 06-23-2015 at 09:56 PM. |

Re: movable container with ease
I have a bunch of plants growing in these buckets, but I haven't had small pups grow and flower yet. I have moved full size Namwah plants into the buckets because I didn't have room in the ground and they produce fruit.

The first bucket was a Goldfinger purchased from Armstrong. I removed a large plant from the bucket and put it in my backyard so we shall see. When I took the large plant out of the bucket 5 baby plants came up in its place. The other bucket was purchased as a Dwarf Giant from Monrovia. Susan |

Re: movable container with ease
Never had them break from the weight of the soil, or plants, but they will crack if you press down to hard on the drill while drilling drain holes. The crack will travel from hole to the next hole with too much pressure, but as far as just breaking, I have not had that problem yet.
