Default Mimi greenhouse to keep bugs out?

I occasionally grow herbs like basil, etc. and the bugs love it. I was thinking of making a mini removable "greenhouse" out of PVC and clear plastic sheeting. Basically I would make a box frame and clip the plastic onto the PVC.

Has anyone done this? What things do I need to know about plants in a greenhouse such as this? How much sun could it take, etc.?

Thanks.

Easiest solution is to try this, works for me every time!
Mix cinnamon teaspoon (must be pure unmixed cinn)
6-8 drops of garlic oil
Plain old tap water, mix together in spray bottle and spray directly on foliage
Careful not to get too much in the soil as it can dry the roots out.
Treat as needed. lot cheaper than a green house

If you have a screened pool enclosure you could use that as your green house.....you could grow a whole jungle in there.

Your plants will probably cook under plastic. My limited experience growing non tropicals in FL led me to believe that many pests are soil borne. When I planted in containers using a mix of "buggy dirt' and compost with regular watering, I harvested tomatoes and peppers; in beds they croaked. Herbs and other veggies grown in cinder blocks using the same method did well. Makes no sense to this "raised bed plant in the earth Yankee gal" but that's been my experience thus far.

I open mine on warm days, but my warm cooking days will be getting fewer as winter approaches.

Additional note: For such a small area I also believe fresh air is needed to keep the leaves healthy. I am no expert but it stands to common reason that the air inside the greenhouse would quickly be converted to oxygen. Great for us, but the plants need some nice fresh carbon dioxide to breath.

I do like the idea of the screen rather than plastic. So far I have not planted the herbs in the ground, just the pot they came in.

I may also experiment with non toxic sprays. Such as the garlic & cinnamon. I have also heard about peppers or tobacco soaked spray.
