Confessions of a Compulsive Weeder

i got this from Dave's Garden. i had to forward it on to every one its amusing.
but i must confess I'm am guilty as charged. the only sad part or maybe its not so sad that here In Nevada we don't have many weeds. its either to hot or the ground is to hard or theirs not enough water for most weeds to grow. i only weed maybe at most a couple of times a year. when i lived in Missouri i had to weed every day. its so lush there in the summer time it rains for days on end and the soil is so firtal that practical every weed germinates. i was happy as a clam. LOL any way call me nuts or say I'm unbalanced but i do love a tidy garden.
i recently went to a semi locally famous friends house hes quite well known for his extravagant Gardens and built on Green house for a garden party at the beginning of summer. but i was in total agony the hole time i was there hes gardens were vary neglected this year. he had weeds every were. i so wanted to just set my glass down and dive right in. but as the author points out its quite rood to do this at some one else house. so i had to resist. I turned my attentions back to the nice people that were there and ended up having a good time any way. but i still think about it. heheheh

Any way enjoy the article but by all means tell us of your secret garden desires. we wont tell any one! promise. cross my hart and hope do die!

Yikes! This is too soon to remind me of weeding. I was doing just that the other day and of course, in order to get a good grip, I wasn't using any gloves. I sliced my fingers numerous times pulling out some stubborn, thin, running grass roots, that on closer examination had split into multiple fibers down the center...fibers that acted like razor blades!

We had a wet Spring, which led to lots of weeds
The few (4) sunny days we had in June I had other things to do
I've spent the rest of the summer trying to catch up

I wish I was a compulsive weeder!! It's horrifying at how fast and tall the weeds grow here and some have roots that grow as long underground in the oposite direction ... like Johnson grass... omgsh don't even get me started on it. We have tractors and trucks that drive past everyday hauling hay with little seeds of all different things happily blowing all over. Little by little our front yard will be transforming into pathways of heavy plastic covered with rock meandering through raised beds that will be easier to control the weeds. We're just in the beginning stages but I can see what it's going to look like!!

When I first moved out here I wondered why hardly anyone had anything but lawn that they mowed with a riding mower and afew bushes ... now I understand. The weeds are such a battle. Boy if anyone got up out of their chair to pull weeds at my house... I'd go get the wheel barrow for them and consider them my best friend EVER. :ha:
