![]() So i've recently begun dosing my indoor potted plants with a peroxide/water combo hoping to kill the fungus gnats and other crap growing in the media.
I confess I didn't use potting soil like people say you should but I just went with whatever I had at the time which was mostly garden bedding soil. I'm hoping the peroxide mixture will curb any fungus growth too. For those that wonder what the mix is, according to the internet it is 1 part 3% peroxide and 3 or 4 parts water. Too early to tell if the mix is working but will update when I can see some definitive result. I'm going to have to order peroxide in bulk from a medical supply place because paying for it at the local drug store is going to make me go broke. |

![]() Rather than spend tons of money on chemicals (I know hydrogen and oxygen aren't harmful) perhaps you can just not water the plants for 2 weeks?? Or water from the bottom of the pot instead of the top.
I have manged to keep the gnats under control by allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, keeping a strip of yellow fly sticky tape nearby, and I also have a USB powered bug zapper / night light that I use if things get real bad. Erik |

![]() If they're in a room with a door, try one of those flea foggers you can buy at the supermarket. I bought a bunch of peroxide for 2012. IDK if it goes bad or not. I know bleach does. It was cheaper than alcohol at the time, so I stocked up on it more. When the damnpanic hit, I had a quart of alcohol so Dad was able to use that. Now that alcohol hits the shelves from time to time, I stocked up on it the past couple weeks. I have two gallons of it now in pints. I'm set.
